Myron's death is truly the end of an era in Pittsburgh. Unlike Pittsburgh's most popular ESPN current talk show host who often times relies on rudness, inappropriate sexual comments heard by our youngsters and ignorant behavior to bolster his ratings, Myron was a class act who was admired by all. He was knowledgable, fun, courteous to his callers and defined the meaning of broadcast journalism and sports talk radio in Pittsburgh. I always listened to Myron with my children in the car without worrying about what might be broadcast. He worked with and nurtured other class sportscasters such as Stan Savern, Bill Hillgrove, Tunch Ilkin and Alby Oxenwriter to only name a few who have also exhibited class on the air. It's a sad day in Pittsburgh.

Just like when 3 Rivers went down, this is a sad day in Steeler and Pittsburgh history. Thank you Myron for all the yoi's double yoi's and for your enthusiasm and love of the Steelers for all these years. I've been a Steeler fan for as long as I can remember and you've always been a part of it. I also remember seeing you & Don Cannon hanging out at RHCC...I'd be sitting with my dad (Doc L) and I'd hear you guys talking....from childhood to adult you have always been there. Thanks for the memories!!

The end of an era has come in Pittsburgh. You are a living legend, Myron! Listening to the Steelers' games will never be the same again without that heavy dose of "Pittsburghese" that we have all come to know and love.

Best wishes to you and your family, Myron, on your retirement.... Hokle-Dokle?

Myron Cope has been the only voice of the Steelers since I have been around, and now being only 24 years old, It just will not be the same without him around. Myron you are the true Pittsburgh Legend, and will be missed!! The Steeler games just won't be the same without you. Good Luck, and thank you for always making Pittsburgh shine!

For the lone post that is glad he is retiring maybe you arent a true fan of black and gold? Sure you will deny that but the truth is he was a trademark of the Steeler's just as steel is to Pittsburgh.

Back in '72, I decided to listen to the Steeler radio broadcast while I watched the game on TV, because I didn't want to hear the "unbiased" play calling of the network sportscasters. I wanted everything to be "Steelers". I must say, this is a decision that has become a tradition in my family. Myron, you are unique. You will be missed. The best to you in your retirement.

Good Luck, Leon
