I think that Kevin Franz, of Thomas Jefferson high School should be athlete of the week. Kevin is a 4.0 student, and quarterback of the Thomas Jefferson High School Jaguars. Kevin had 265 yards passing against Pine Richland and 4 touch downs. Kevin suffered a severe dislocation in his right index finger against Gateway, His left hand he suffer a tear that required 8 stiches against West Mifflin in the second play. Kevin also does community services for his church. Kevin also plays varsity basketball for the Jaguars. Kevin Franz is my nomination for this week for his great accomplishments. Go Jaguars The road to Heinz

I would like to nominate Travis Menear for student athlete of the week. Travis has become a dependable, unique, diversified player. Since then he has had two honors from the paper for best defensive player for the game. He plays for the Mapletown Maples and this team itself has accomplished a tremendous task. They are the Tri-County South Conference Champs. This feat has not been done since 1968. Travis as well as any of the young men that played on this team deserves this honor,in saying that it would end a very exciting year for him. He has averaged at least 10 tackles a game. If you were to ask him if he should be nominated he would say that everybody deserves this honor because it was a team accomplishment. he is just that type of person on the field and off he is an all around good guy. I would like to say thanks to the Maples for a great year we are so proud of our Maples.

I vote for Steve Paskorz and Bob Bartley from Hampton. They are a grade ahead of me(10), and I played with both of them in 7th grade. They are two amazing athletes.
