Are you satisified with the current quality of your cable, satellite or FiOS service?

Do price increases make you more or less likely to continue subscribing?

What about options like On Demand or DVR?

FIOS has just started in my area, I did some checking of prices and offerings from FIOS, Comcast, and DISH-TV (Direct-TV was too much for the channels I am interested in). Here is the breakdown (monthly costs):

Comcast Basic - 66 channels, $57.99 Digital - 151 channels, $60.98, a 1-room DVR for $14.99

FIOS - 163 channels, $47.99, 3-room DVR for $19.99

Dish - 157 channels, $49.99, Includes 2-room DVR

lucas324, I am debating canceling Comcast. Actually the debate is not about canceling Comcast (that decision is made), but whom to switch to.

FIOS has just closed a deal with the community I live in, but prices have not come out yet.

Why did you switch from a dish to FIOS? I am considering Dish TV (Direct TV's package is higher than Dish's for the channels we watch). Was there a problem, or did you just want something FIOS offered?

I have already switched off Comcast internet to FIOS's (Comcast charges more if you don't have their TV service than FIOS does).

I just scheduled my switch to FIOS two days ago after researching and debating on leaving Comcast after 15 years. I've had enough of Comcast's increases in charges with no better services offered. FIOS comes out ahead in internet speed, reliability, and tv signal (HD and otherwise.) The only thing I'm not happy about is paying for set top boxes monthly - an added $35 charge monthly - which took my monthly bill to $6 more than I'm currently paying for Comcast. A fair trade-off, in my opinion, when you take into account the added speeds and technology. Verizon would be a hands-down winner to consumers if they'd do something with that fee.

Happy New Year!!

A little note for get real. I've had cable, Direct TV and now have Fios. You have no idea what your talking about. I very rarely had trouble with the satellite in bad weather. Allot less than when I had Comcast. My Fios is fantastic. I don't know where you got your information, but you can get in touch with Verizon Fios 24/7. Don't talk about something you know nothing about.

I just moved here alittle over 2 years ago from the Baltimore, Md area and had Comcast there which I was very pleased with. Well here just outside of New Florence Pa I have Comcast but it seems like it's a different company. I have complained since I've been here about the quality and service I receive and they just say we are upgrading. I have to pay the same price that people just a few miles from me get more. I can't even get On Demand whatsmore HD, so WHY do I have to pay the same as neighbors getting alot more. Even the Net SUCKS, excuse the language.....I've tried to get Direct TV or the Dish but the trees in the area is too high. I've tried Verizon and it's not available in my area, not even for net service except for dial up. When I first moved here we had Adelphia Cable which I was as least able to get on demand but the BIG Company COMCAST bought them out. I have called and complained and stated that we all can't afford to live in the city like Pittsburgh so W H E N are they going to upgrade the surrounding areas. I jsut WISH someone could help, like another cable company coming in........the HD TV I bought before I retired in Baltimore is USELESS around here.

to those who wine about channels that they don't want:

We all have channels that we don't watch, it's called grow up and learn to take the good with the bad. Those channels are there because other customers do watch them. I'm Catholic so I don't want to see the 700 Club and all that other stuff like it but I do like watch my mass once and a while so I look at it as a fair trade off. I can't stand the history join and yet millions watch or animal planet, etc.. Part of life and being a grownup is dealing with those things in life that we don't like.

We were Comcast customers for many years. Each year, we were met with a price increase and each year we lost channels. I was VERY excited to hear that Verizon was bringing Fios to our neighborhood and signed up right away. The product is far superior and we are paying less money for more channels. I know it was their hook to get us to sign up but at this point, I will take it. We have been very satisfied with Verizon, especially their customer service which included an installation tech that went above and beyond and a customer service tech that spent a significant amount of time with me one evening working out a technical glitch in my old computer.

As for Comcast, I agree with the others. It seems as if our bundle was forever running out and the only other one available was $10 more expensive. However, when I went to cancel the service and complained about the price, I was amazed at how fast they wanted to drop the price in order to keep my business. They even went as far as to say that they would beat the Verizon price. Nice....but too late. If they wanted to keep me as a customer, they should have done that when I initially called to lower my rate. When I canceled the service, they wanted to continue to bill me for 2 more weeks until a technician could get out and flip the switch at the pole. Even though I had disconnected the service from Comcast, they planned to continue to bill me until their technician could turn it off. Funny....bet if I didn't pay my bill, they would have no problem switching the service off without going up the pole. On top of it all, they sent me a bill for $500 because I didn't turn in my equipment. I guess when I handed everything over to the technician, that was not good enough for them.

So now they are raising rates....I'm not surprised. Someone has to pay for all of those expensive commercials they put on TV.

We had Comcast for at least 10 years in the Penn Hills Area and when we moved to a new house in the same general area had Comcast installed again (Verizon was not yet available). The reception was horrible and after 25 service calls to them to fix numerous issues (involving hideous wait time on the phone...), we were at our wit's end! Thank goodness Verizon entered Penn Hills, we haven't had a problem since installing it. Most likely, the reason they need to raise rates is that they are losing business to Verizon's superior product and technicians. And enough already about rising fuel prices...did they notice the drop in price in crude oil recently? I too, agree with the comment... go to the library... it's free!

Best Regards, Willy's Mom

That would be a BIG FAT NO! i have been a loyal customer for 17 years and all they do is mess with the loyal customers. why is it that the new customers get all the perks. they better start focusing on the customers they have and keeping them happy before the greed drives us all to verizon fios. i cant say how many countless phone calls i have made over the years on a bill that came that was way out of line only to find out i am out of a bundle. then for them to transfer you to the butt kissin department. i am a single mom tryin to keep my head above water and cant afford to go and do things all the time so movies and tv is our entertainment. they are now making it out of our reach. why dont they just send a bill that says please send one arm and one leg next time.. its about come to that..
