It's a decision that will change the city's landscape forever.

Did the state Gaming Control Board make the right decision in awarding the license?

Would you have rather seen one of the other two applicants win the license instead?

I was really hopeing that the race card would not be played...but oh well, it seems that its a given these days. I keep reading the word mob in some of the messages, and frankly I don't think "The Mob" would even get involved in a pennyante deal like this one bardon was going to build. The casions they got involved with as well as built are mostly in Las Vegas. Perhaps getting the Mob to set this up would be best for everyone involved. The taxes would be paid and the profits would be spread around properly. Maybe even some candy for the mayor. When I see the news stories about this game they are playing its embarassing to all of us that live in Pittsburgh. Our local government has gone to the dogs. We had members of council outright stealing and only getting a slap on the wrists, and big fights about foolish things instead of takeing time to look at crime and other important problems. But I still have to ask this, why was Mr. Bettis allowed to help bardon along with Smokey Robinson and when it all hit the fan they never get mentioned at the hustle they ran on this Great City? The local polititians that looked the other way thru this game need to be voted out of office instead of business as usual. We need to take back our government and vote in the people that can do the right thing, NOT the people who belong to the right party. We must stop this bi-partisan thinking and think of our City, our State, and above all, our Nation. If we don't wake up fast we are in real trouble. Its up to us...the citizens who have been sitting on our hands for too long to fix it. If we don't....SHAME ON ALL OF US!

We all know that Pittsburgh has a "Good ole Boy " kind of government as well as our politics, not withstanding the remarks by obama about our Bibles and Guns that is. When our new casion bids were made I was suprised that the two other bidders(the ones with experience and funding) were passed over for a friend of "The Bus" and Smokey Robinson. They were here makeing the rounds and doing TV appearances like crazy. As soon as the contract was awarded "the Bus" and Smokey were nowhere to be found. These folks from Detroit came here and made fools of us, and we just sat there and did nothing. Noe Bettis is back on PITTSBURGH Television laughing at the dummies that fell for their hustle and the guy who was supposed to make all this happen, not only has no money, but hes hustled us into allowing him to still get a percentage of the take from something he has nothing to do with. Whats happened to us people??? When did we start allowing strangers to come into our house and steal from us. All those promises about the Northside and other improvements should be dictated by we the voters, not some guy from detroit that writes rubber checks. Why is it that no one ever mentions Mr. Bettis' involvement in this hustle? Yes he was a terrific athlete, but remember he was paid to be a terrific athlete for many years. You might learn that his investments have been in detroit, not Pittsburgh, but we still say nothinh when hes talking and grinning on his Pittsburgh TV show.

Demsrdumb, you've hit the nail squarely on the head! Two wrongs DO make a write, to them. Why? Your handle says it exactly.

Isn't it strange, though, that liberals keep trying the same things, over and over, expecting different results? That's a legal definition of insanity, you know. Go figure.

I guess two wrongs do make a right. Thanks for nothing Pennsylvania.

The present and previous gaming board should be tried for high crimes and misdemeanors. Perhaps this Bluhm business was in the works from the beginning. Oh wait, he said he was insulted that people would insinuate a political payback for contributions to Governor Parade around the state with big checks for playground swings Rendell. Well, Mr. Bluhm, if you were so insulted then why didn't you walk away from the process? But anyway, this is another sad indictment of our inept and corrupt state government. From east to west, from Fumo to DeWeese, this sad tale is repeated on and on ad infinitum. But the most troubling aspect of our sorry state of affairs is that no one seems to care or want to get involved in rectifying the wrongs. Sure we all complain about higher taxes but thats all we do is complain and nothing more. Get more involved. Call your reps. vote, keep informed.

I would like to congratulate the state gaming board on another stellar decision...but I guess you had to let Bluhm bale out Barden because otherwise you guys would look like a bunch of jack as*es that didnt know what you were doing...oh wait, you already do. Explain to me how the initial process for a casino license took YEARS to complete...what with all of the background checks to make sure that you had the suitable candidate (oh wait, guess you forgot to do that with barden, didnt you?), the endless amount of traffic studies that needed completed (oops...forgot that too with Barden), the financial reviews (oops, another one) and the countless number of other things...yet as soon as your boy Barden, the only minority to apply for a license in the state mind you, gets in trouble you say "to he*l with the process, lets just get someone in here with a lot of money that our minority candidate picked out by himself and give him the license instead...". This board is a joke...why is it no other state in the country has had as many issues with gambling/casinos as the State of Pennsylvania? You should all be fired...

As long as we keep paying the racists on the gaming board they'll keep it up. They are after all appointees of a mobster government.

Good points, everyone! We were indeed stuck with Barden because of what amounts to discrimination.

a certain percentage of everything nowdays must be minority-owned, don't you know? This eliminates discrimination. HA!

And I wouldn't be a bit surprised that many pockets were lined with cash, from Slick Eddie Rendell on down, so that Barden could get a fast track for his project.

The stupidest part of all? Revenues from the casino have already been added to area budgets! HA HA!

I don't appreciate the bait and switch ploy of the players involved. I say let the property sit and find another use for it. Tell the players to take the mob elsewhere!

The gaming commission stuck us with the Barden group, against everyone else's recommendations. It's time for them to fix their mess.
