EDITOR'S NOTE:

At first, this board was intended to be a place for our readers to post get-well messages for Pittsburgh Mayor Bob O'Connor as he battled a rare form of cancer.

Now that the mayor has died, WTAE-TV invites you to share your thoughts and memories of Bob O'Connor and your condolence messages for his family.

Also, if you have ever met Bob O'Connor and you'd like to share a personal story about that, feel free to do so.

Thanks for your participation.

To The Dearly Departed Bob O'Connor--We'll miss you Bob O'Connor!! I think we'll continue with your wishes and goals for Pittsburgh, but it won't hold a candle to your efforts. I can only hope that Mayor Ravenstahl can hold up to your legacy. Ravenstahl had some airtime with David Letterman last night, and I think you would be proud. So long from Pittsburgh, and until next time, Thank you Bob. Thank you very much.

I was at the Three Rivers Arts Festival in June and stopped in Arby's on Liberty Avenue before going to the Government Mule concert. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed that Mayor O'Connor was standing next to me, along with a city policeman. I joked with him about him working in the restaurant when it was Roy Rogers and asked if he was returning to his roots. He talked to everybody in the place, ate and then just walked up the road. No entourage, just him and the officer. That gave me a new respect for him as one of us.

I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to the O'Connor family for the loss of such a wonderful man and mayor. Just one week ago I called "my dad" on my way home from work, and in our conversation he remarked that "our mayor" was still hangin in there.I just shook my head that he would say that. You see, we live in Mt. Pleasant some 45 miles away in Westmoreland County. If only Mayor BoB O'Connor could have known that he really was everyone's mayor. I had the privilege to have been in the city working at the Federal Reserve Bank building.I was able to witness the funeral motorcade as they came down Grant Street, I was able to see Corey's thumbs-up out the car window and need I say I cried for such a great man and his family. Thank you O'Connors for sharing the last difficult days with the neighboring counties that could not pay our respects in person. May God Bless all in the days to come. Michelle W.

Another poem I wrote: To Mayor Bob, You have left us be Your body's here, but your spirit's free I know you're with God up above Looking down on the ones you love In pain you will suffer no more Your in heaven with God whom we all adore I am writing this poem to express how we feel We will miss you always, but it's God's will He's taken you to a better place In our hearts always a empty space Our heart strings you forever touched With a trail of tears we will miss you so much

Sincerely,Catherine

I have not lived in the city for over 25 yrs, but I have always been interested in the political picture. When Mr. O'Connor was elected I thought 'what were the people in the city thinking electing a clone of Murphy?' Obviously I was not paying too much attention to city politics as His Honor Mr. O'Connor was anything but a clone of Murphy. That was evident immediately after when I watch with great admiration as the newly elected Mayor walked the streets "redding up". To His Family and to the immediate citizens of the city, I offer my deepest sympathy and only hope Mr. Ravenstahl continues on the same path Mayor O'Connor started. May He Rest in Peace and may his family carry with them always his precious MEMORY!

The showing of love and celebration of a life in pittsburgh was wonderful yesterday. mayor o'connor will be missed but his life will be always be remembered. the steelers game thurs night with the fireworks really had pittsburgh shining last night and my first thought was that mayor o'connor was smiling down and the city was shining up to him. thank you o'connor family for sharing him with the city.

**NOT QUITE SURE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE MESSAGE I WAS WRITING. I WAS NOT FINISHED.... Let each of us take Bob's messages of hope, enthusiasm, and pride, to make our lives and our city of Pittsburgh the wonderful place Bob knew it was and can continue to be. I will miss you sincerely Bob. You had a tremendous impact on me. I hope and pray that I can live more fully the important things in life that you showed us all. "Let's get to work!" Thank you so much Mayor O'Connor. Heidi

My wife had come to know Bob through the care of his aunt. She says you saw the same man on The news as you experienced on a one to one conversation. I'm deeply saddened at his passing . WE wish his family all the best , strength hope and love in the coming days and weeks. Time helps us deal with the sorrow and grief but memories are timeless. Well keep Bob in our hearts . Peace be with you From the Zelznak's
