Do you think the state of Florida should offer a Confederate specialty license plate?

EFS,Cocoa wrote: I am in the moving business and for some reason I have moved hundreds of people from the north who dont like it here in Fl, to the more southern states and cities. Wonder why? Could it be for the graciousness, kindness, neighborly, friendly way of the people who live there???People will still help their neighbors, stop for a disabled car, watch out for the neighborhood children and elderly just to name a few reasons!! I am from North Carolina, I am not STUPID just because I speak slower and softly! I am college educated, earn a good living, vote and pay taxes. I have raised and educated three children who also work and pay taxes. None of us are racist, however, we do believe in the "southern hospitality" and way of life. Thats what the conferderate flag means to us!! *********************************************

But I believe that EFS doesn't live in the real world, these people drive like there are no other people on the road and they usually have the stars n bars somewhere on their pickup truck. Helpful, huh, bullpuckey. Money makes the south go around even more so than in the Northern states. Bubba to the rescue, I think not!

I reiderate, Robert E. Lee was a traitor and should have been hanged, as well as Jefferson Davis.

i think it is heritage not hate, basically because there were other factors behind that flag not just slavery. if you stop and think about it, slavery still goes on today. its just called something nicer like personal assistants but they are basically slaves. people should educate themselves to learn the whole history instead on jugding by what they hear or think they know before stating the flag represents hate. if people can ride around in america with the puerto rico flag or the british flag or any other kind of flag represtenting there heritage, why cant we ride around with ours? its apart of american history whether you agree with it or not. if you are going to live in america, especially the states that were apart of the C.S.A., you need to learn to deal with it because IT IS our heritage.

If remembering those that sought to destroy our country and to perpetuate slavery, I dont want any part of that. I say that there should be no place for a Confederate License Plate in Florida, and anyone who raises a Confederate soldier or officer to hero status should examine what kind of message they are truly sending.

If FL. won't put the confederate on a tag then they should outlaw all flags including the Mexican, Puerto Rican, Afro-American, Italian, and the American flag. Either everybody gets one or nobody gets one.

To hell with heritage. What does it represent now? Why don't you just get a license plate that says "Loser", "Hate Monger", or "Idiot". They're all the same.

I am a proud citizen of the UNITED States of America. I have never known, or wished to know, this divided country you are so enchanted by. If this is heritige why aren't any african-americans on the bandwagon. It's their heritage too.

DAC56 Please READ and LEARN I will never understand how anyone can commet on a subject and know so little about the subject like DAC56 amoung others. To call Gen Robert E. Lee a Tratior shows how LITTLE you really know about the subject.

SIMPLE: even for you, 1.There was not a law aganist sucession

2.This country had 2 charters at the time with A coming before B. Please read up on both and that will explain a lot to you on the subject A.Confederation B.Contitution

3.The North wanted the Contitution, The South wanted the Confederation(thus the name CONFEDERATES)

4. Gen Lee could not believe that a President of the USA would send 80,000 troops to invade It's own People. That is why he declined Command of the Union Army

5.The only side to benfit from killing Lincoln was his own Party as he wanted to welcome the South back into the Union with NO PENTALYS! Lincoln's Party wanted to make the South pay dearly

6.Lincoln could not have cared less about the Slaves in 1860

7.Runaway Slaves were returned to the South from 1860 to 1863

8.Lincoln's plan for the slaves was to return all slaves to Africa as he saw them as a problem for the future

This is all fact if you will only take the time to read on the subject Thanks, FlaReb

People that believe Jessie James and Robert E. Lee were hero's are also in favor of this new plate. I believe that Jessie James was a murderer and a common thief and was just to lazy to work, so he stole, I also believe that Robert E. Lee was a traitor pure and simple. To celebrate murder and treason by creating a personalized plate with that silly looking flag on it is nineteenth century (thats the 1800's for rednecks) mentality. The South lost a treasonist war and assassinated the only man (President Lincoln) that would have invited the rebellious states back into the Union, so what did you get, a turbulent Reconstruction and a southern president (President Johnson) that was almost evicted from office. With these facts in evidence, why would anyone want a treasonist flag saluted? No stars and bars for our license plates!

I'm a proud Southerner and I say yes to the Tag. Others can have flages or tag that are part of their Heritage. I'm just as proud to be a Southerner as anyone from N.Y., N.J. or any where else. I say yes.
