ONLY RESPONSES THAT INCLUDE A FIRST NAME, LAST NAME AND CITY ARE ELIGIBLE TO BE USED IN WESH NEWSCHANNEL 2 NEWSCASTS. With most of Central Florida weary following back-to-back hurricanes, residents are bracing for Hurricane Jeanne. Are you prepared? Do you have any tips to help your neighbors get through another storm. Share your thoughts.

Has anyone been able to find a contractor who will perform repairs for as little money as the insurance company estimates repairs will cost?

First off I would like to address Dickie1: How dare you imply that mother nature's ways has ANYTHING to do with that chimp of a president we have, while I don't like (nor did I vote for him in 2000 nor will I in 2004 ) GWB, his election has nothing to do with billions of people treating this world like a garbage can!.. you give tree hugging liberals like myself a back name.. Secondly- Indie1: I can understand your complaints, I felt the same way through out this hurricane season, I live in Seminole County and the only thing I ever heard about Seminole County was the water levels at Lake Monroe. So I can understand where you are coming from, however during Charley and Frances,( I left the area during Jeanne) I can recall several reports about the Celebration area and a D.O.T live camera view of the eye's arrival(while power was still working), and a live cam of Osceola Pkwy, perhaps you did not catch the same coverage I did, but it was there. ...and finally to asinoastut: I personally would think the current wind speed is important to a person because if they know for a fact that 80mph winds took off shingles or up rooted a tree, and they know the CURRENT wind speed is only 65mph , than there is less of a reason to worry yourself into a heart attack!

Indie, why are you so bitter? Aren't we all in this together? Everyone is suffering here, no need to go on the attack! I know lots of people in Brevard with $37,000 plus in damage and no idea with repair can even start! Also wondering, other than out of curiousity, why the CURRENT wind speed is so important to you. Predicted speeds are what can help you determine if you are in danger. Once the wind is there, what exactly is it you plan to do about it if you do find out the exact speed?
Just wondering.

I am in total agreement. Sick and tired of seeing reports standing on the beach or in marina. No coverage what-so-ever for the LBV, Dr Phillps area. If there is - it looks more accidental. For all the reports and especially the upper management in WESH. You are not representing a balanced reporting rather more of the absurd reporting. You had three chances and you blew (pardon the pun) all of them.

I am so thankful for the information that is provided by everyone. This comment area is very useful. Keep up the good work. P.S. I made it through with lights and telephone. Thank You Sumter Electric, Adelphia cable and Sprint. The road crew did a good pickup depres job here yesterday before the storm. Lots of people to be thankful to this evening.

Hope everyone is safe. I've been in the central Florida area since 1970 and have never seen a hurricane season like this one. I'm living in an apartment and with the last 2 hurricanes the windows have leaked so bad that it runs behind the walls and flows out at the slab. They had supposedly fixed the windows just last week. We've been here during the storms and were able to pull back the carpets, cut out the soaked padding, then use towels and a shop vac to keep the water at bay. I count my blessings that we never lost power otherwise the majority of the carpet would have been soaked. The carpets were only put back down last week, now we've pulled them back once more. The apartment manager stated they had about 100 units with leaking windows. This complex is only about 5 years old and deems itself a luxury community. Rent is not cheap. It's a shame that today's construction is so shooty. I'm thinking of asking for a reduction in my rent for the month of September at least. My apartment has been in disarray since Frances. Now it seems it will remain this way again for 3 weeks. I'm thinking of asking for $100 off. Am I being selfish? Or should I ask for even more of a reduction? LOL

P.S. An insurance company employee told me Osceola had the worst claims in Central Florida in the previous storms. Why are you leaving us out of your coverage, for god's sake? And when I say you are not telling us what the wind speeds are, I mean the real ones, not the predicted ones. The predicted ones were helpful, county by county, earlier, but you've fallen short of reporting the actual experienced gusts in my area. We are totally dependent on the news media to understand what is happening outside and all we get to see is you guys whining about how hard it is for you to stand up in Brevard County instead of simply giving us the information that will help us survive, be comforted or warned, namely, reporting the actual windspeeds on a regular basis -- get sensors out as many places as possible or people you can call who are monitoring it 24 hours a day and give updates. That will keep us more involved because everyone will be included instead of watching your self absorbed reporters droning on about their own experience.
