I don't think a penny should be given to him for defense. His DNA has proven that he killed 6 women. He doesn't deserve a trial. It should be over.

He should go straight to Hell for all the hurt he has caused.

God Bless the families of the victims to help them cope with this difficult time. I would be horrified and want to kill the person myself if something like that happened to my child.

Sincerely, Sheri

I was born and raised in and around New Orleans and frankly I feel that Derrick Todd Lee has no rights to breath much less receive medical treatment for what he has done. He's no better than Charles Manson and he shouldn't even be breathing today. It would not suprise me if he winds up getting off even with the DNA evidence because of some mistake made my the police. I'm not putting down police per say, but there is always an incompatant idiot somewhere that will make the mistake that will get him released. Let him code without helping him and save the tax payers alot of money. Lord knows his attorney will make money off of him not us.

Are we suppose to feel sorry for Derrick Lee for having a heart problem. Where was this heart condition that causes him problems when he was running across this state killing the women he did. And his DNA has already showed he is the one who killed 6 women and god only knows how many more out there we know nothing about. My question is why is there money from this state to give medical attention to someone like this when I also have a heart condition and can get no help for it from this state because there is no money to help me. In 1998 I had a massive heart attack and after I got out of the hospital I had a 8 month wait to get into the heart clinic at Charity. What was to happen to me in these 8 months? No one cared, it got so bad that I sold all my furniture and went to Ohio where within a couple weeks I was given a 5 vessel by pass that saved my life. I was told afterwards that it I had not had the operation I had about 7-10 days to live. If I had waited those months to get into the Charity Heart Clinic I would of died. I had to come back here because I had a house and a husband, since coming back I have had none of the medicine that was perscribed for me because I can not afford it, so I do with out. My husband is on disability and draws $621. a month out of a $2200. a month income when he was working because Social Security only pays 60% now of what you are suppose to be drawing, there is nothing left to buy medicine with. My perscription cost is $324. a month, I do without, the state has NO PROGRAMS IN THE STATE OF LOUISIANA to help the aged, blind and disabled. BUT THEY HAVE MONEY TO GIVE A PACE MAKER TO A MAN WHO KILLED 6 WOMEN AND THEY KNOW THEY ARE GOING TO CONVICT AND PUT TO DEATH. I can not get SSI for my medical condition because my husband draws TOO MUCH a month, $621. is TOO MUCH. Somehow this does not seem right. Once his DNA said he done it to me the decission has been made. Maybe this state is so afraid that his legal team may get him off and he will be let out into the street to kill again and he will sue them for not giving him treatment. So am I too believe that his life is worth more than mine. That for me to get medical treatment I have to kill a bunch of people or maybe my husband then when I get in jail I can complain and they will get me the help I need. (Oh yes, I did find a way to get my medicine, it's called the free medicine programs that is given by the medicine manifactures, I have received forms from all of them to get my medicine free. All I have to do is go to Charity get the forms filled out and the perscriptions filled. Well I tried that last Tuesday, after waiting several hours to see a doctor I was told that the clinic is part of the emergency room now and that they don't perscribe medicine or fill out forms. That they refer you to other parts of the clinic (heart clinic or pain clinic, etc) and there they will fill out the forms and perscribe the medicine. One problem with that there will be several months wait to get into each. So I'm back to square one again, no medicine. There has to be a place where you can contact some place in Washington DC to send in teams to investage the goings on in this state. I have been told that Louisiana receives several million dollars in federal money for the people of Louisiana for the blind aged and disabled, and is this what they do with it hold it till someone like Derrick Lee needs treatment. People you need to start looking into the goings on in this state before what happed to me happens to you because then it is too late. As for Derrick Lee we can be asured that they who kill can always get what they need. If I was the parents of these women who he killed I would sue this state for making sure the one who killed my daughters was taken care of. He is safe, they could not give that assurance to their daughters, they have made sure he will live, but their daughters didn't what wrong with you Louisiana what makes a killers life worth more than the lives of the citizens here in this state. Stop putting the money in your pockets and help the honest people here and to hell with the Derrick Lees seem it would of saved the state a bunch of money and this operation is only a stall tactic to start with. If he had never been caught would he of died? Think not! Bonnie Dugas Empire, La

This response to nonews via e-mail:

I wonder what the healthcare providers are thinking. Are they afraid? What an ethical dilemna. This guy should be a DNR...do not resuscitate! Let his heart slow down, he'll pass out and we will be rid of one evil person. I wonder what his heart rate was when he was killing those women. The families must be up in arms!!

I think our system needs to be revised. We have a suspected serial killer getting medical treatment on our money. We will treat his medical condition and then try him for the electric chair??? He did not much care about the women's hearts that he killed. They no longer beat and we are worrying about his beating slow?? What's wrong with this picture????

Derrick todd lee in new orleans hospital for a heart problem ? Why not use the hospitals in Baton Rouge Like Earl K long is it a state hospital also . It sounds like a big show to bring this person to new orleans for something that he has had all his life . if that would be anyother inmate he would be in a hospital close to the jail and not have to pay for all the guards , not bad overtime .

Rissa29: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE go to the authorities with your information about the officer you encountered a few weeks back if you haven't already. The conversation you had with him sounds INCREDIBLY suggestive and suspicious. The predator has more information than us and that's why he is able to remain unidentified. He knows us better than we know ourselves. Everyone has to change their thinking, which means you need to be aware (read: alive, breathing, with us) moment to moment. Most hopeful Buddhists don't acheive this type of consciousness in a lifetime; it's a blessing not a curse.

I'm coming from a big metro city in the northern US where as a women I've had, for the most part, to learn to be continuously aware of my safety and to not make assumptions about what's harmless. This isn't paranoia, it's understanding the realities of our environment. It's asking us to be cognizent ALL THE TIME, and there is nothing disturbing in that.

Women, loose your unquestioning trust, it's being exploited, keep your survival instincts and remember every moment the importance and responsibility you have over your own life. While this damaged, lost, and unfortunate soul does hold a lot of power over his potential victims, that doesn't mean we relinquish ours.

As my mom always says, "Baby, be smart."

Be smart all citizens of Baton Rouge - all eyes on him.

Here's to one more clue,

Staying Alive

the other day on the news Carrie Yoder's boyfriend asked women "who would you open the door to" . I got to thinking and was suprised attheany strangers I open the door to. here's my list anyone who has a bunch Watchtower copies ups or a postal worker law enforcemet or maintenance worker military officer in uniform pizza delivery guy utility worker a neighbor I may not know very well a salesman or vendor these are a lot of people I don't know. Yet if you are like me you open the door to these people all the time. Think about and stay safe. Louisiana needs to unite in prayer until this killer is caught.

I believe the Task Force is doing all possible to solve this case. All involved have multiple reasons to be highly motivated to get it solved. The question of the sex of victims is - to me - without merit. I do not believe the Task Force would be more motivated by a different gender of victim. It is my understanding that additional FBI have been allocated to the case. This is critically important in my opinion. Serial killer cases typically take considerable time to solve because of the lack of direct connection with victims and lack of apparent motive. It requires tenacity and patience - and the alertness of us all. I believe the Task Force is working incredibly hard, and we need to do the same. One more note: This killer is a cowardly, inadequate, pitifully resentful, destructive dimwad slug of a human being. Too bad he had a knife, Murray Pace may have just been his match. But, then he's too patheticly cowardly to do anything but harm women smaller than he is.
