In a two-part series, NewsChannel5's Ted Henry spoke with several local spiritual leaders on their thoughts on heaven and how you get there.
The Muslim, Jewish, Catholic and Protestant leaders had different ideas on the journey to the afterlife.
We want to hear your thoughts on heaven. Do you agree with the leaders, or do you have a different idea of how you get there.
You can share your thoughts and comments here and read about other viewers' ideas on the topic.

Common sense tells us right from wrong. We don't need any spiritual leaders to teach us how to live a good life. Religion teaches followers to be greedy, that you deserve more than you've got. They sell tickets to heaven, for which you pay right now, and join the festivities after you're dead (if you believe in that sort of thing). I believe in living each day being the best person I know how to be, to love and respect everyone. Talking and believing will never match actions. On my last day, I can look back and say it was all good. I accept my mortality instead of fearing it. One good life is plenty.

I can't believe this was an actual news segment. Heaven, if it exists, is a faith-based concept, and answers on how to get there vary from one faith to another. Although some people are very certain that they know the right way, nothing definitive will ever be known except by the individual after his or her death (assuming there is an afterlife). Piffle masquerading as "news." I have a better question: why is local news so banal and inane?

JJ, what would you base your belief on?

Apparently Reverend Begg was the only one with a definitive answer to the question. Disagreement with the other religions, ABSOLUTELY. "Living a good life" is not the answer.

I watched the interviews on television last night, and thought that it was interesting what I heard. The Jewish, Muslim, and Catholic wasys to get to heaven never promised a sure method. It was all a "Maybe you can" or "I hope after living a good life that I will" mentality. Frankly, this leaves you with no hope. Now while I would add to the explanation that was given by Alistair Begg, at least the way that he described would give someone hope.
There IS a way to heaven and you CAN know for sure that you are going there when you die. Jesus is the way to heaven, and by asking His forgiveness for the sins we have committed and ask Him to come into our hearts to dwell with us, we can have assurance that we will go to heaven when we die. We only need to ask Him one time, because once we do, He will live with us until we die.

I think that the conversation with Begg is disingenuous in these trying times. Here is a minister who says the only way to Heaven is through Jesus - but I'd bet that you'd get quite an argument about that from Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists ... basically every OTHER religion on earth. The true path to Heaven is through doing good on Earth. Being a good person, doing for others, NOT fomenting wars or poverty, and basically living by the Golden Rule. Those who hate are not on a path to Heaven and those who work to divide rather than unite are going to have a hard time.
