I've also accessed this story through the Michael Moore web site. Please accept my praise of the many students, former students, parents and concerned citizens of Hudson for your articulate and passionate expressions related to this incident. This is a microcosm of what is symptomatic in many towns and cities across the United States at all levels of government, covering a myriad of issues, and you have a wonderful opportunity to bring about a correction to what may be a great wrong! This is so rare to find young and old united in what appears to be a righteous cause. Do your homework well and thoughourly investigate this issue, which you have a complete legal right to do. If there is wrongdoing on the part of the school boad they must be impeached before they can do any more harm. This must be the rule in the United States and not the exception. Also, give channel 5 a chance to vindicate themselves and ask for their help in this investigation. This is a great deal of what being an American citizen is about! By the way, I live in Arizona. Long live the internet, a great unifier of the United States.

Peace, Leeski

This protest was eaceful until police arrested Greg August. News Channel 5 had a veiw from the dash cam of police, and it showed August climb a tree. After complying to requests to get down, he was arrested. He was not pulled down, of yanked down, he climbed down. After this students threw 4 snowballs and 1 water bootle.

So what if we make more mone per capita than others. That doesnt mean we dont know what is right. Firing someone for 48 dollars, or an album cover, is something to protest about.

For those people on this forum that dont realize this, all i have to say is Jodate!

I saw this on the Michael Moore site and just had to follow it and read up on the situation.

I can see that the students love Mr. Howard and they have proven it from with their actions. Unfortunately, the School Board does not agree. The school board members are elected by the community to represent them, but they have dropped the ball on this. I do have some advice. Did u know that as long as u are old enough to vote, u are old enough to run for the school board (or any office for that matter)?

If u guys are serious about this, get a student representative who is willing to take the position vote him into the shcool board. I do not know what is required to be put on the ballot, but check it out! The school board should have the documentation! Once ur in, i can start changing things from the inside. And dont let the adults tell u that it cant be done, because there is no law against it!

Sure it seems impossible, but its really not! Others have done this! U know how it can be done? Get ur friends, those who can vote, and vote whoever is running in. Since there usually arent a lot of adults who do vote in school board elections, teenagers could possibly outvote them! Who knows, maybe some parents will decide to vote for the student!

If u can get in, u can change things. Plus, once ur in, who knows what u can do for ur school and community!

Cheers! Jason

I was at the walkout but that is past the fact. Students have started a recall campaign for the 5 current board members. Visit the site at www.recalltheboard.org.

Be sure to visit www.recalltheboard.org

Makes you wonder how much of the tax dollars we pay out go toward lawyer fees... Just a thought.

First off before jumping to conclusions on what you think you saw on T.V. take into consideration that your only seeing what about 20 seconds if that! Also everyone is so quick to judge the police, have any of you been confronted by 600 people that were throwing things and refusing to listen, what would you do then??? The B.O.E. wanted the people removed from the property so they were! These poor little rich brats need to stop whining and throwing tantrums cause they didnt get what they wanted. If you want to do a peaceful protest that is one thing but rioting is not peaceful!!!

Grow Up allready!!

I am a sophmore at the High School and have had two brothers go through the schools - one didn't even encouter Mr. Howard. Mr. Howard knew one of their names because he was academically recognized - not because of sports or because of poor decisions - because he relates/speaks with/and supports all students from all walks of life. I have talked to both of my brothers in the last couple days and they agree with the vast majority of the Hudson population. Those kids walked out with respect for Mr. Howard and they walked back in with respect for Mr. Howard. Mr. Howard is our idol and we respected his request for us to return to our school. There are over 30 doors in our high school and you expect him and his faculty (who support him) to try to stop a thousand kids? It wouldn't happen, whether they supported him or not. Hudson students are not bad kids, but we are tired of sitting back and just being known as good students. We are good students, some of the best in our state, but we also stand for what we believe in. We are taught by what and who we see and the only positive person(s) that have taught us anything are our parents, the administrators and teachers that walk our halls EVERY day. The boards motto should be, "do as i say, not as i do" because i have not seen anything they have done respectful to anyone in our city these last couple of days/months.

Im an HHS grad....And for all those bashing what heppend...maybe if they told the town the real reason then this would stop.....being to nice isn't a good enough reason....I can't wait when if they do get a new Principle, the hudson students rebel becuase thats what they do when they get someone in there that dosen't respect the them....Hudson kids need someone who respect them because then they respect that person, and that is what Mr. Howard has done!

personally, i dont think its right for people who know little about this situation to come preach to us. mostly becasue they believe what the media presents, ignoring the falsities. nothing worse than a PLASTIC bottle was thrown. and whatever was thrown was thrown from deep in the crowd. therefore, the cops DID NOT have the right to use pepper spray. they just shot it into the frontline, and thats incredibly wrong.

and whats thgis talk about us burning the building down? thats a complete lie, and was used to boost ratings. while im not surprised things like this were said, i am still dissapointed in the media.

trust me, i know what i was tlaking about...I was there.

Whatever benefit of the doubt I had for 'Roger' is long gone now. If he had any credibility and took some control over at the high school, he would have squelched the protest before it ever got off the ground. I wish the board would just let hime go now and pay off the rest of his contract....Good riddance! Its like the inmates running the prison over there!
