There are lines at most polling locations throughout Ohio. There also are polling place challengers at various sites.
Tell us about your experience. Was it good overall? Were you left irritated because you had to wait? Were you happy to see Americans showing up to be part of the democratic process?

Like many others who got out to vote, MY LINE was by far the longest there. I wonder how these poll workers figure out WHERE to put more voting machines, and where to put fewer, it always seems to be completely unbalanced. If one voting booth is to serve 200 expected voters, while another expects to have 800 line up, something smells funny. I think this game is rigged!
My sole consolation in this whole fiasco is that despite the obvious divisions in this country, we all have to keep sailing in the same boat. I'm sure some folks would love to have seperate boats as well (one to live it up, the other to foot the bills), but fortunately you can't "fix" everything. Life goes on, and in 2008 there'll be another chance to tackle the mountain of manure piling up all around us right now. Get your pitchforks, it's gonna be a mess before W's through!

I went early and no line...however..I was a first time voter, no ID was asked of me. I didn't know what to do once I received my punch card...I finally figured it out for myself though. And why the heck are there crabby older woman always running the show...one couldn't see very good...one was hard of hearing and one was just plain rude!.....I don't know that I will vote again...because of that...plus I'm hearing so many things about bogus voting..people making mistakes.....They've had 4 years to "fine tune" this voting process and yet it still seems so unorganized and sloppy!! With all the technology today and we still have to use a punch tool that's an inch long...what about people who have a hard time gripping things....why can't the tool be as long as a pencil....just little things like that.....not impressed with my experience at all!!!!!

For JSCan..this was found in an article on newsnet5 today: "Clothing or pins for particular candidates are not supposed to be allowed since no partisan campaigning is permitted within 150 feet of a polling place."
As much as I disagree, too, I left my buttons in the car and put it on after I left the polling booth. (Makes me wonder if cars with bumperstickers of favored politicans were turned away??? I gather not)
Lines were long at 10:30am in Summit County's Franklin Township area, but all went pretty well. A few more workers there than I thought necessary. Everyone there seemed congenial and patient.

My experience was fine, I waited about 30 to 45 minutes to vote, but there was noone there trying to presuade people to vote opposite the party they're registered under. As far as the comment made by the person who felt their rights were violated when she had to take off her Kerry/Edwards pin, I say the people where she voted did the right thing. I myself voted for George Bush, he's the best president we ever had, he's against abortion and same-sex marriage, and I feel he's done a lot to make our country safer. If I had walked in with a Bush/Cheney pin on, I probably would've been asked to take it off, and would've done so peacefully. I don't want a president who supports killing babies and same sex marriage. GO GEORGE BUSH!!!!

My experience was awful. I did not know that if you haven't voted in awhile you become inactive and being that I didn't re-register before today, I was told I can't vote. Whats up with that? So much for my vote. They need to tell people that. If I would've been informed, I would've re-registered.

The worst ever. I waited in lines for two hours, was directed to go to another precinct which was actually the wrong precinct and then forced to cast a provisional ballot. I have been voting for 15 years and I voted just last year in my current precinct but now my name is missing from the rolls. I was told that I could call a number in 17 days to find out if my vote was even counted. I have never experienced these probems in 15 years of voting. Don't let anyone tell you that voting in Ohio is going smoothly.

Brunswick City Hall. It was ok. The election workers were nice and did a wonderful job.
The only problem I had was with other voters! Smartmouth comments in line and childlike whining. You know, you are an adult. You should have stopped whining years ago.
Also, to the people who complained about being told to remove PINS, tshirts, etc that advertised a certain candidate: You are just asking for trouble when you wear that stuff. Why cant you be like everyone else and just show up and vote and go home? No, you gotta cause problems and then scream that your rights are being taken away. HA HA. Its amazing that you people even know how to breath.
People need to grow up and stop being such babies.

Hi, I'm from Medina Twp., Ohio. Long Lines, we waited an hour to vote. Few problems ahead of us with people not having the right information but all in all it went okay. I'm glad I was there to see the excitement. I also voted for KERRY/EDWARDS......GO KERRY. WE NEED A NEW BEGINNING!!!! My stomach is in knots right now, can't wait to hear who won. KERRY KERRY KERRY..................

Since my work schedule is flexible, I figured I'd get in with the crowd that shows up after the first batch goes to work (after 10am). It worked out ok, although I was at the precinct with 5 times more people than any other, and the line was pretty overwhelming. Still, I was all done and outa there within about 45 minutes.
I feel sorry for the elderly, the handicapped and those who are having a visibly hard time standing in a line for time indefinite. Could they not supply lawnchairs for those who clearly aren't up to such an ordeal? It also was stuffy in that huge place (some kind of city vehicle garage with at least 20 feet of space going up), and someone decide to turn on the heat. THAT made it much worse.
Drizzling rain may also have deterred a few voters, but not me. I punched my holes, checked for chads, the whole deal. I'm confident that it mattered and that a change is coming due to my participation, and the millions of Americans who, just like me, don't want four more years of Bush-o-Nomics (which equals unintelligent, pig-headed hogwash instead of logic and reason). Yes, America, there is a Santa Claus!
