Charlie Manuel was fired Thursday as manager of the Tribe. Do you think the team made the right decision? Did Manuel deserve to lose his job? NewsNet5 would like to hear what you think.

It's not Manuel's fault. Look at the players he's got to work with. I still believe we should have never gotten rid of Hargroove. He was the best thing to ever happen to the Indians.

Charlie, the original bobblehead, was riding on the residual effects of what John Hart and Mike Hargrove did. When Dolan bought the team, it was on its way down. The biggest mistake of losing the World Series to Florida was Mike Hargrove's decision to keep playing his sluggers who were not slugging. Panty-waist Justice should have sat out the 7 games with all the braces he had on him. Matt Williams and Jim Thome should have sat the bench too! The Indians are a business to Dolan. A boycott for about a week or two would would certainly bring him to reality.Firing Charlie was the only good thing I have seen happen in the last two years. He can't even speak clearly. He can probably rival Yogi for stupidisms. He saw the writing on the wall and saw a way to screw off for the rest of the year...with pay. GO TRIBE!!!!!

Yes I think so because Charlie Manuel's contract is to expire at the end of the season and Charlie wanted to know about his future and after that he decided that it was best for him to pack his bags. This was the right decision for the Indians and Charlie Manuel.

Charlie was NO GOOD as a hitting coach, who ever REALLY thought he could handle managing the team. NOT ME!! I don't agree with the way Dolan and Shapiro have dismantled the team, however, Charlie didn't deserve a long term contract. Anyone that would play Gutierrez ahead of McDonald needs to be fired, or have their head examined at the very least.

As if it will make a difference!

The right decision would have been to fire Mark Shapiro. While they're at it, why don't they fire the whole team and start from scratch? I never heard of building up a team by getting rid of their ace pitcher. They should have built around him.

It was bound to happen eventually; if I was in Charlie's place, sitting there, being a lame-duck manager would be torture.

The real question what the Dolan/Shapiro braintrust will provide on the diamond for the long term. They seem determined to put their own team on the field and peddle as many of the Hart-era players as possible. Their assumption is that they have enough eye for talent to put together a competative team which will be different from the Indian teams of the 90's.

Hate to say it, but it will be a long time before we see a title contending Indians team; I just don't think either of these two guys have got the the moxy or dedication to get it done.

I think what needs to be done IMMEDIATELY is to do something for the fans as an act of good faith--cut ticket pricing, parking pricing--who knows--but do something that acknowledges that the fans are getting an inferior product but still paying for the real thing.

Dolan forgets that if people want to see minor league ball being played, they can go to Akron and see it for a lot less than what it costs at the Jake.

Who really cares? The Tribe could have Dorothy Fuldheim (regardless that she's been dead for about a decade) out there managing and it wouldn't matter one bit. Dolan needs to sell, and Shapiro just needs to go away. I hate both of them for damaging my lifelong love of Cleveland Indians baseball (even through the hard times of the 70's & 80's).

The difference between the 70/80's timeframe and now is that at least fans (though not many of 'em) were allowed to hope (fruitless as it was) that each year the Tribe was 'gonna make it happen.' Dolan/Shapiro (whom both I believe will rot in a firey hell for what they're doing now) have essentially said to us (the fans) this team is going to SUCK for at least the next three years (minimum).

But in answer to the question at hand, it really doesn't matter one bit who's managing this team - What a JOKE.

I think Charlie's days were numbered as soon as he was hired. He is a "good ole boy" that wants to see everybody happy. He wasn't manager material from the start. He was a superb hitting coach - he should have stuck to coaching. I'm happy Joel Skinner has an opportunity to see what he can do as manager with the talent the "executives" have left him. I may get discouraged with the Indians (players and management) but I will NEVER support another team. I will remain an Indians fan til I breathe my last.

Anyone else notice that it's been a downhill slide since Hargrove left?
