Several sources, including Brett Favre's brother, are reporting that Brett Favre is retiring. What do you think? Is it time? Should he have waited another year?

Kudos to Prufrock9...I totally agree with everything you said in your comment. I have never been a fan of professional football or any other professional sport for that matter. I have better things to do with my time. Many fans have turned these million dollar players into gods who we worship on our TV screens. I have to agree from all I have heard of Mr. Favre (I still don't get the connection between the spelling of his name and its pronunciation) that he is a nice guy, but he is not a god. The guy retired, let him retire in peace. The Packers will live on without him.

Enough already......

Yes, Favre is an amazing athlete, and yes, the Packers could use him back, and I enjoy watching FB and Favre as well, but really, come on.

Do us a favor, make a decision and stick with it....Either commit to stay, or commit to go.

Should Favre come back....will he want to be QB....will he deserve to be...what about the new guy.....doesnt' he deserve a chance as QB....or are we all to obsessed to think anyone other than Favre can't carry the Packers.

Sports should be about sports, and while fans do go on and on over this kinda of news, drama has it's place it world, and it's not in football.

Best of luck whatever he decides....

To: bgddy0061: How can anyone understacd your point of view when you type like a preschooler? Brett has brought millions of $ to this state. He has been a true leader both on and off the field. He is a true team player and is not one to single himself out as the reason the Pack did good. He has shared his personal mistakes for everyone to judge him on and that takes a true leader to do. I say 'Favre for President!' How many lawmakers are as honest as he has been to the state of WI?

I don't believe it. As soon as Rodgers goes down this fall I think Bret will come out of retirement. He loves the game too much to resist.

bgddy0061 - you are a moron, you would'nt know a champion if it slapped you in the face. Maybe rogers should act like T O or moss that would problaby make you happy. Brett i hope you ignore people like this they have no clue. I am proud of you and i wish you good luck and hope some day there will be more like you on and off the field

This has been a very sad week for myself and my family. We not only respected Brett on the field but most importantly off. He is a shining example of how one should carry themselves in life. We will miss Brett on Sundays...man was he a joy to watch play, but we also understand his reasons for retiring. I just finished watching his press conference and thought what his wife had to say was so profound...do you want to spend your life looking through the rear view mirror or the windshield. I will personally never forget that advice and will apply it to myself. So bottom line is I think Brett is doing what is best for his family and himself. As sad as this is for all packer fans, and football fans the world wide we all should wish him the best, thank him for 16 years of his life, and allow him his time to ride off into the sunset.

May your Higher Power be with you, Suz

God bless him, he's earned it. He set every important record for a QB (let's not forget, 160 victories), and it's better to leave now while he's still healthy. I'd have hated to see him go out like a Joe Theismann or a Steve Young, carted off on a stretcher. I hope we still see him around Wisconsin for events like his softball game and other charity events. He's one of the last real heroes I think you'll ever see on a football field. A real throwback, in the best sense of the word.

Favre has every right to retire and FINALLY spend quality time with his family 24/7. He will be missed, football won't be the same without him, he has been an excellent role model for our children, but we should respect his decision. Life needs to move forward....or fourward. Good luck Brett!

Get over it! For God's sakes people he's a football player. If people paid half as much attention to politics as they did to football, we may actually have a country where the average person could afford to live. He isn't Jesus Christ, he isn't John F. Kennedy! And he isn't dead! Get over it!

Some of the negative comments here really bother me. I do not think that any of us can judge why Brett made the choice to retire. Every game he came out ready to rock our world. Every touch down was celebrated as if it was his very first. In 2003 my mother was dying, a most difficult time. The one thing that brought her joy was those Sunday afternoons when she would see" her boy " Brett give his all to give us another victory. Now I am not saying that Brett is super natural (though many would say differently), but lets not forget that this young man has brought back the respect that our Pack deserves. Brett I just want to say you have given some great memories for this 52 yo women who LOVES football. It is time that Deanna and the girls gets all of you. We will NEVER forget you! All the Best Sharon L.
