I just finished reading Laura's letter of thanks and it is I, that would to thank Laura, and Mike's family. If it wasn't for the love and proper upbringing by Mike's family that molded him into the wonderful man that he was. If not for Laura's support and understanding of Mike's choosen career then we as a society would have been less fortunate. Mike chose a career to be proud of and undoubtly that he was.But inorder to follow his heart, his wife and kids had to make sacrifices prior to the ultimate sacrifice. I can never tell the family how sorry I am for thier loss, but I want them to know in thier hearts that I thank them as much for allowing Mike to shine as he did so well.

With Christmas nearly here, I again wish the Briggs family comfort, healing and peace as they continue to bear the tragic loss of the husband and father they loved so much.

as Christmas approaches I find myself thinking of Mike's family. My heart goes out to his boys, I lost my Dad recently and can relate to the feelings they must have. I also lost my wife a few years back and it makes this time of year especially difficult to get through with my son. I wish them the best and god bless and watch over them as the new year comes around. Peace to all..

To Mrs. Briggs and their two boys....my heart and prayers go out to you. Mike was my training officer at the Hillsborough County Jail. Mike was an officer of true professionalism and honor. It was an honor and pleasure to work with him. I am now employed with the Raleigh, NC police Department and his brother officers have mourned the loss of a great man, father, and brother officer.

My heart goes out to you and your children. My husband is a police officer and we too have little boys. I can only imagine how difficult things are for you and your boys right now. I wish you all the strength in the world through these tough times. God Bless you and your family. Our hearts go out to you each and every day.

Mrs Briggs, your entire family, men and women of the law, our community mourns the loss of Officer Michael Briggs. You are in my prayers every night asking God to give you all comfort. As for his murderer I hope he receives the death penalty and may he rot in hell for his senseless act. Again, I'm deeply sorry for your loss.

I didnt know Officer Briggs myself, but i grew up the next town over from where his family lives.. When I heard what happened, I was in tears. I feel sorry for the family.. I cant even image losing a member of my family. And a lot of my friends are Police Officers and my heart goes out to all families who have to go through something so sad. And I was very upset to hear who the person was that did this to him and his family. In todays world, the things that go on surprise me. what has the world come to. My wishes go out to all who knew him and others out there who go through something like this in their lifetime. Im sorry and I pray everyday this man gets the punishment that the law requires. and I hope its a long one he'll never forget. god bless the family

To all of our heroes both fallen and standing

Poem for Michael Briggs

The night falls and with impatience, the children wait. The bright colors, The noise, The flashing lights, The bangs, The laughter, the tears, all through the years. The sights we see mean different things for you and for me, The sounds we hear are so different to each persons ears. Where one may invasion rain drops from the sounds, Another may invasion gun fire from all around. Each person has there own crosses to bare, And it is with good friends we are able to share. The children, so ignorant of the horrors of the past, One can only wonder how long it can last. The children so happy and full of glee, Without the true knowledge of what the fourth really means. The freedom we take for granted each day, Would not be possible without the great many whom have laid. Laid down their lives for you and for me, With the greatest of hope we will always live free.

GOD BLESS The great many whom have died for us, and may they rest in peace with all our love. And for those who are fortunate to be with us today, May the good lord have a hand in keeping you from going astray.
