How bad was your storm damage? Do you have any good storm stories?

We have 3 willow trees planted by previous owners on our property. Unfortunately 2 of the 3 were blown over in the storm last night. I can't believe how wild the wind sounded and that it actually blew over our trees, ripped the roots right out of the ground.

I left the Penn Township area Hanover at 7:30am and it looked as if another small twister touched down in the area of Grandview Dr. and Westminster Ave. After seeing the damage of the twister that touched down in 2001 it looked very similar. Trees were completely uprooted or snapped in half, utility power poles lifted out of the ground. Several roads on my normal route had power lines down. The howling winds awoke me in the middle of the night, and by the looks of the sky I made the decision to move our family downstairs to the basement.

Hopefully it will not take three days to get fixed like it did when we had no gas.

We only had a little water in the basement, but our neighbors behind us lost their shed. I wish everyone luck.

Peace, Kitty

We live in Columbia. At our house we have small damage but my daughter and her family live on the other side of town and they have no electricity till Sat.night. A tree came down on their cars and half is still standing and winds may bring it down on to their roof.I heard winds in Lancaster County were 70 m.p.h. and Columbia had the highest rain fall. My neice in Christiana whose husband is the Mayor were okay but without electricity. She said she never heard such loud noise in her life.

My daughter just moved into their house 1 month ago and of course home insurance won't cover the damage.

We live in Stevens, near Denver, in an old house, The wind broke my Daughters window, nothing hit it , it was due to the high winds and single pain glass, otherwise we were spared. We lost electric around 3Am but it was restored by 9AM. It could've been alot worse, we have 2 lg maple trees, only branches fell but outr neighbors tree split in half.

Kindest regards, Linda Hinkle

We live in Millersville close to Jack's Restaurant and woke up this morning to a total disaster! We lost 3 trees, have fence damage and lot's of big tree limbs down in our yard! It looks like a tornado went through our property! Luckily our house is okay and we did not lose electric! This is the worst storm I have ever witnessed and hope to never see another one like it again! Hopefully the nice sunny weekend ahead will give us a chance to cleanup!

Latest News , There seems to still be a power outage in Strasburg Twp, in the area of Penn Grant Rd. These poor folks living there have been without power since late Thursday evening. Good news though, the Red Cross is at Lampeter Strasburg High School and will be open to residents with out power. This means hot showers and meals for those in need. Way to go Red Cross. PPL are still working steadily south of Strasburg and other southern municapalities to restore power. As to all local fire co. and local municapalities keep up the GREAT WORK you have been doing on clean up.

On Friday Morning I woke up to almost no damage to our home and had the intention of going to check on my boat later in the afternoon once the roads had cleared a bit. As usual, I tuned into News 8 at noon and was shocked to see my marina in shambles. The main shot showed a boat belonging to very close friends smashed into the main dock and listing severely to one side. I then heard that 5 houseboats left on their moorings were heavily damaged. I was in my car and heading to the river in 2 minutes. Upon arrival I was informed that ours was the only houseboat that did not sustain heavy damage. It had been shoved almost 40 yard to shore⬦.dragging a 250 lb anchor. I saw another friends boat partially submerged and sinking (this would be the boat shown in News 8â¬"s firsts slide show shot). What happened in the aftermath was truly amazing. By Friday afternoon Lake Clarke Marina was packed⬦..many people were gawkers and sightseers, but many were patrons of the marina (people with not only damaged boats, but many with boats that had weathered the storm on land) there to lend a hand and do whatever they could. Friday afternoon thru Sunday evening, people came together to retrieve boats and docks, clean up debris, and in general, just doing whatever they could to help fellow boaters. I was amazed at the out-pouring of caring and generosity. The entire week-end the marina was inundated with people volunteering time and in one case, a contraption that featured a crane type lift to remove boats twisted in docks and trees. Although many friends lost material goods and there is still a lot of work to be done, I canâ¬"t help but to be grateful for not only my boat being spared, but for the Lake Clarke Family that showed itself so well this week-end.

During The storm our tree branch fell down and hit our house and scrapped our tiles off our roof. It took a day to clean up the branch and the branches it had landed on. We had to take down the two branches it landed on because they were split and with the next storm they would have fell. Early that morning I got up to ride fourwheeler and my mom called as I was getting to my friends house and said I had to go home to fix the skirting that had blown off because of the winds. Then she had taken me back to my friends to ride and fifteen minutes later she called again and said I had to come and help with the tree and I came home to cut up the tree branches. We had a truck full of branches and logs and we have two generators running because the electric is not supposed to be on until Monday night at midnight. Then the guy up the road is complaining because of the generators waking him up. But my grandfather just got out of the hospital because he fell in a parking lot and broke his hip. Personally I think that someones life is more important than someones job. Now we are not sure if he is gonna call cops or just call the park manager.

Sincerely,Toby Troop

I didn't have any damage other than a tree in my front lawn but I am still without power, and I live in West Manchester Township, just a few blocks from the West York Borough Police Station. This is maddening, I simply cannot understand how everyone around my area has power except for two blocks on my street.

Thank you, Debbie Luckenbaugh
