On May 12, 2007, Tom and Lisa Haines, and their 16-year-old son Kevin, were found dead in their home on Peach Lane in the Blossom Hill development of Manheim Township. Now police say Alec Kreider, 16, a friend and classmate of Kevin Haines has admitted to the killings. We'd like to know what you think about this case. Feel free to share your thoughts and feelings in this WGAL.com forum.

There is confirmed doubt about Alec Kreider's convictions in this case. Though it would be horrible for the Manheim Twp community to get into an uproar again over this tragedy, justice demands an untarnished prosecution.

When this story first broke and in the time since then, I don't believe I've heard if the doors and windows at the Hains home were locked. Did Alex just walk in an unlocked door in the middle of the night? I know alot of people leave their doors and windows unlocked 24 hours a day. In today's world, it boggles my mind that anyone would leave their homes unlocked. It doesn't matter how safe your neighborhood is, your family's safety is the number one priority. Even when I'm home my doors and windows are locked and I live in a safe community. There's just way too many nuts out there to be so trusting of people. Even if I go away for 10 minutes my home is locked up. I'm not being paranoid, it's just the way I was raised.

He's sick and needs to go away, forever.

There is still so much we don't know concerning this crime. We as the community need to understand and come to peace with this, my child who isn't much younger than these boys has been sleeping in my room since this happened, I still wake up in the middle of the night with the thought of this and or hearing a noise. We are living in fear as so many others since the thought of a teenager could come into a home and do this terrible thing to the people who probably treated him like one of their own, who probably ate at their table and rode in their car, etc. I as many would like to know what kind of world we live in that could make someone so.... terrible. We as parents need to know the signs and instill in our children the respect and honor and morals that most have lost. For it is our jobs, not the teachers @ school or anyone else, WE must be held responsible for our youths.

As much as we all want Maggie to have the full $25,000 of the reward money Mr. Kreider has the right of claming... I would doubt it happening.

Who know what the cost will be for Alec's lawyer and such. Mr Kreider probably won't keep any leftoever money for himself. But frankly, I doubt there will even be any leftover money. He shouldn't suffer from his son's actions - he may use the money for legal issues.

And even if any is leftover, I bet he'd feel guilt into giving some to Maggie.

The father turned him in and 2 days later he was arrested. There are still laws and procedures that Law Enforcement need to abide by. If they wouldn't have followed the laws themselves somoene would have been all up in arms about that. No one is content unless they have something to complain about. Since we all think we know how to do the jobs of Law Enforcement then why don't you do it.

I would think that the media "speculation" is not the cruel to accuse a man who has just turned in his son for triple murder of wanting the reward money. But I guess since the media circus around this case has quieted some, they need something else to tourment this family with. Having a son commit such a horrific crime isn't enough to deal with I guess. As for the reward money, it should be give in trust to the Haines Family sole surviver "Maggie". She's going to need it.

Also, there's the unsolved murder of Christy Mirack. She was murdered in 1992.

All the reports in the news state that Alec continued to wear the shoes that were used the night of the killings, also parents must have given permission since he was spoken to by phone and the parents were both interviewed also. I just feel that if this was Kevin's closest friend it should have been better investigated. the whole thing is just odd to me that his father tod the police on june 14th that his son was responsible for the murders and also gave the murder weapon and alec was not arrested until 2 days later. The confession to the crime should have been enough evidence to hold him.

I may have forgotten one thing folks. In York County they are still lookig for the killer of Greg Whitman, while his brother Zach sits in jail wrongly convicted of the crime. With a good lawyer, ANYTHING is possible yet. Someone surely framed this 16 year old!
