So what do you think about the Pittsburgh Penguins possibly moving to KC?

True, the penguins are paying rent, but they also get to keep 100% of the new buildings revenues (from concerts, events, etc.) I think they were only getting about 50% of sprint center revenues. So in the end both cities were probably about equal from the financial side. Pittsburgh had an established fan base going for it... they showed up for games even when the team was terrible. Tough to put a price on that. The same can't be said for Nashville.

Glad to see we could be the pawns in the Penguins' blackmail of Pittsburgh.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but why do we want a team that can't figure out the difference betweeen paid to come to town and paying to stay in Pittsburgh. If they can't see that then let them pay elsewhere.
keep up the good work

I love hockey but this whole ordeal is a farce! I think the Penguins are just trying to get Pittsburgh to build a new arena & if they can get the city stirred up with the possibility of losing them then they play KC against them. WHAT A GAME!

If the Penguins were truly interested in moving to KC or moving out of Pittsburgh, don't you think they would have made the decision by now? The Pens are doing all they can to stay in PA, and it's beginning to look more like they're not going to move - based on what's being reported on Saturday. Yes, the Pens will get a rent-free arena and also share half of the arena revenue in KC, but Pittsburgh is offering to give the Pens all revenue from a new arena. Why wouldn't they chose that? Plus, they have a solid fan base that's second only to NY in regards to TV ratings. The fans have been packing their outdated arena all season, which is rather rare in the NHL. Let's not get our hopes up KC; the Pens are just using us to bargaining tool to get a better deal in Pittsburgh, and that's where they're going to stay.

Since when can't KC not be able to hold a major sports franchise? djh you need to get your facts straight before for you talk. Yes the Royals have been bottom feeders for quite some time, but not for their entire exsitance. Hello we won the World Series in '85. Through out the late 70's and 80's we were one of the top teams in the MLB. They have been awful since then, but then again so have the Pirates. Ever heard of the Kansas City Chiefs? We can support them very well I might add. As far as hockey goes, we have had a team before and the moved away. But that was a time hockey was popular across the nation it wasn't just in KC. It would be great to get a hockey team again, but I don't think taking the Pens away is the answer. Just thought I would put in my 2 cents.

First of all, this will never happen. I'm sure there is alot of optimism in KC about our beloved Pens moving there, but there is even more optimism here in Pittsburgh that the team will stay. KC cannot support a hockey team, or a professional sports team of any magnitude. Look at the KC Royals for example, they should be in the minor leagues based on their poor performace over the entire course of their existence.
Not trying to trash KC, but dont count on a hockey team anytime soon, especially the best team in the league, the Penguins.
So sorry.

I wouldn't stay in Pittsburgh for love nor money. They have had their chance to make it right with the penguins and after 46 years they can't get off of their duff and build them a new arena? They should have seen this coming. I am from KC and hope they move here! and for gosh sakes, FREE rent and half of the revenue? They'd be nuts not too!
Best Wishes,
