When it comes to your health care, does your insurance company make the grade?

I worked for First Health for years. They were bought out by Coventry. Since then, they have me spending my time denying claims that are legitimate. They keep denying large claims and then finally denies them after a year as untimely filing even though they are filed within their 90 days. They do reconsider claims for 6 months after untimely filing ends......but my job is denying your legitimate claims. Definitely looking for other work! PLEASE DO NOT USE COVENTRY...ALL THE HORROR STORIES ARE REAL!!!!

I'm terrified b/c my husband's company just switched back to Coventry. We've had them before and they've denied my meds and suggested others. Not just generics, but a completely different drug! If I wanted their medical advice, I wouldn't have my own GP. I hope and pray that nobody in my family gets seriously sick this year or it looks like it'll be a lot of heartache. I'm going to encourage my husband to campaign his benefits mgr to change next year. Good Luck to Mrs. Casey and I hope she gets the treatment she needs.

If you use a quality broker, they can help through this whole process. It does not cost anything additional to use a broker. A broker is your advocate as a consumer. Let me know if you have any questions.

I am tired of the insurance companies telling what you can and can't have when it comes to your medicine. I finally just got my heartburn medicine back and now my company is switching insurance companies and it is a lot more expensive through them. They always have all of the heartburn medicine on the third tier for some reason. my last insurance company finally moved it to tier two. Do these insurance companies not know that going untreated for heartburn can cause cancer of the esophagus.

Hi, I'm 18 and I don't know alot about insurance companies or insurance at all but I know how people should be treated. My little brothers and everyone in my little town of Clinton, MO knew Nathan Crabtree. We all miss him dearly. My whole outlook on this topic is people shouldn't die if they have a way to live. I cut a whole 11inches off my hair March 11th for a cancer paitent who couldn't grow hair and I also just did a newspaper interview about donating it all. I pray everyday that maybe if I pray for this person to live or get better that it happens but I know that little me praying everyday for this person won't do anything. I also hope and pray everyday that I may save a life today but I go through everyday and feel like I didn't even touch someones life today so how could I save one. What I'm getting to is if someone has a way to get away from dieing they should freely have that chance or health care to do it. Insurance people should have the heart to just say ok. I really hope every insurance company who denies a cancer patient the money feels really bad after they hear that that person has died. I hope one day that they wake up in the middle of the night feeling like if they would have just said yes that one person would have lived. But I am also a christian and I know that if God wanted that person to live that he would provide for that person to live.

My employer used BCBS insurance. Under this insurance, I was able to have two cochlear implant surgeries to allow some restoration of my hearing after completely losing my hearing due to illness. Not only did BCBS cover the two surgeries, but over a year of therapy and ongoing maintenance of my implants. (And even Medicare covers such services.) My employer later changed to Coventry (don't know why - cost I'm sure). Under Coventry, coverage for ANYTHING related to my cochlear implants was refused. They deemed it not medically necessary and not covered under my policy. I would really like to know how an insurance company can make such decisions? Another example of Coventry definately not having their patients' best interest at heart.

I am new to this whole Coventry company, but recently took a job with a company that uses Coventry halth (I am guessing b/c it was the cheapest). However, their premiums aren't that cheap. They are rather expensive compared to other companies with similar plans. I guess I am just upset and confused about this whole company. I have never had them before, but I am starting to find out through other people just how awful and evil they are. Does anyone have any advice for obtaining affordable health insurance on their own...w/o electing to go with your employer's group plan? How is Coventry still in business? It sounds as if they are spending more money in lawsuit prevention than they are providing service to their clients... you and me@!

If Clay County elected officials want to represent their citizens the best way possible, then they should lead by example and drop Coventry insurance. Being cheap is not the way to decide which health care plan to provide to its employees. I hope all companies in Clay County re-evaluate their decision to sign up with Coventry. It's time to take a stand and get people to notice they way they conduct business. I wish it was possible to stop making payments monthly until they pay our bills, but then you get dropped and have to wait until open enrollment to sign back up. I don't understand why companies don't ask their employees which insurance company they want to be insured by??? It's our money and health at stake, not the companies. I would rather pay $400 a month for great coverage then $250 for poor coverage. It's all about the bottom line and neither the companies nor the insurance carrier care what we think.
