Ok...I'm back. Back from conferences and back from a few months of being a bit hit-or-miss with my nutrition and weight loss. It's ice cream season - my biggest challenge.

Hope you're still doing well, Renee. Keep up with the accountability with yourself and the group. It's tough not to slip back into old ways, but you have to do this for YOU first, then your family. Make it a long and healthy life. Best wishes!

Hi Renee!
I appreciate you taking the time to check on me. I am doing well. I am so thankful for this opportunity and for the accountability it is affording me. Right now is about the time I start going into my "old ways" because I start feeling better, but since I have to be accountable to sooo many I find that I am getting past my "hump" so to speak. I just posted my first month's results. I can't wait to see how you are doing! I thank the Lord for helping the four of us to have yet another successful week!
Best Wishes, Kara

Good luck Renee - I am in the same boat and paddling my way to shore. I gave up all meat except fish for lent and tomorrow will be about 30 days into it - so I understand your concern for getting bored with the food choices. I may continue this after Lent because I have lost a few pounds. Shrimp and crab meat are high in protein and low in calories and high in flavor. I am joining SNAP in Westmont later this week and am looking forward to getting back into my skinny clothes. Keep the faith - you can do it.

Hi Rennie,
Why not try the other white meat (lean pork) in a stir fry with thai style veggies and rice noodles, or if pork dosen't suit you try precooked shrimp instead. Quinoa is another wonder grain you might want to try. You can make a great pilaf with it in about 20 min. Just add any canned or fresh veg. tomatoes, seasonings, let it simmer and you are set to eat.

Well, I have to admit that I'm getting stuck in a rut with my food choices. I usually have a protien smoothie with berries for breakfast and pretty much every other meal is chicken breast, whole grain & wild rice or sometimes a sweet potato and mixed steamed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, peas, carrots, edamame, sometimes spinach or kale). Does anyone have any suggestions for meals that are about 1/4 lean protien, 1/4 fiber-rich carb, and 1/2 veggies of mixed colors? I need inspiration so I don't get bored with my food. HELP!!

Way to go, Shakoor. You've made it through the first four days of exercise. Keep up the good work! I wonder if we can get others at PSU to join us? We shall see....
Have a great day, Renee

Renee,
You're doing a great job! You've inspired me. I've joined a gym and taking on my personal challenge of losing weight. Thanks for sharing your story with me.
