What are your thoughts concerning the brawl that broke out during the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons game?

Now that the season is over six months to the day of the brawl I have to state this;I can't find it in my heart to forgive two men who put a stain on the NBA--one being banned the entire year and another who is now on to the Eastern Conference finals, Ben Wallace and Ron Artest. I can't forgive Ron for what he did to himself, the city of Indy, the state of Indiana, the Pacer fans and his teammates--especially Reggie Miller. With all the injuries we sure didn't need to loose key players as we did--now Ben Wallace--shame on you. You are truly the classless player in the Pistons organization. An organization with players who are class acts in Rasheed, Rip, Chauncey, Tayshaun, Antonio McDyss and others--and a wonderful man for a coach in Larry Brown. Ben couldn't even bring himself to apologize and in all the footage I saw in the final game of Reggie Miller tonight I didn't once see Ben go up to Reggie as many or most of the other Pistons did. Ben you have proven you are the biggest pain in the league next to Artest. I hope you cherish your Defensive Player of the Year because next year it will be someone else--maybe Bruce Bowen will finally get the award he so deserves for lcoking down the top scorer on their opponent night after night--being the same reason that is why you lost it to Ron last year. Ben showed me to night and all season all he really cares about is winning championships and awards--he doesn't care about how other people outside of Detroit see him.I do believe and they showed this tonight that the majority of Piston players and staff have class, sorry to say some fans and Ben don't.

It will always be Miller Time!

Ben Wallace is all to blame for this and i will stand 200% behind the pacers i am a major pacers fan i read some of the discussions and i agree what if there were kids there you could of hurt someone but anyways i would of done the same thing as ron artest if someone was throwing bear at me

I think that it is unfair that artest is suspended for the rest of the season when he did not even start the fight so why should he get suspended that long when wallace is the one that started the whole thing you guys should re-think your decision for their consquences yeah he did punch some fans but he would of not done that if someone did not throw that cup

I believe ben wallace should recieve the same suspention as artest. Ben isn't exactly your choir boy, boy scout type the pistons make him out to be. artest was trying to avoid trouble but ben had to stir it up.

I've read some of these statements and I'm finding them to be mosttly correct. But some of you out there are way off the mark Blaming Ron Artest or even wanting to trade on of the finest players in the NBA off because of an uncontrollable desire to win at any cost is beyond me. The real problem that is still unadress as of yet is the Palaces sucurity issues or the Referees not throwing Ben Wallace out of the game as soon as he was teched,or the NBA for that matter in it quest for justice far and beyond the crime. That is a far bigger question than trading Ron and who would want him. I for one want him here in INDIANA, I want him on our team,Reggie well retire soon and that is one of the best players were loosing in the future. So remember that when you want to point fingers and throw Ron away because of his attitude.Remember Reggie and the finger at New York or Reggie and Spike or Reggie and most of the Referees. Attitude is part of this game and some of use have it and some of us need it.Be it as it were control of it well come with time and I sure wouldn't want to face Ron on another team when it happened.

If this were (battery) involved ANY other type of professional or citizen, they would've been fired, and held legally accountable. We are encouraging a society of classes- where money or status makes you above basic human rights and laws.

Short and simple - who cares? It happened, it's over and it's time to move on.

It's gotten way to much coverage already.

The brawl was a sad event in Pacer Basketball history, however in contrast to a society at war over terrorism the Pacer Fans and supporters are getting the shaft by the commissioner of basketball, David Stern.

Yes, the brawl was out of line and they should be punished, but the severity of the crime should be weighed against the backdrop of the event. They were on foreign soil in a hostile environment, who's to say what the pistons or Ben Wallace would do if a fan tossed a beer in their face in weak moment. An arbitrator or panel should decide thier fate not one man with biased feelings and motivations.

Ron Artest is a different story. The uncontrollable and irrational side of the talented and determined Ron Artest has once again emerged. Our last report in our May Newsletter mhtml:http://www.universaltattletale.com/newsletter ?Ron Artest Moment? depicted his inability to stop and count to ten before he reacted to some stimulus or gave a cheap shot to an opposing player. Ron unlike most players needs additional restraint. The Pacers organization must truly be from the liberal side of the tracks to obviously have placed Reggie Miller by Ron?s side at all times to help him vent and avoid future altercations. Ron however didn?t show a lot of appreciation as he quickly found some reasons to need time off after ?Summer Break? right at the start of the season.

This week Ron was lead to the slaughter by Ben Wallace and the Pistons faithful. He refused to fight after Ben Wallace made an abrupt push to Artest following a foul by Artest. It finally looked like Ron might have ?grown up? when a plastic cup was thrown by a ?Ben Wallace? fan and Artest entered the stands to find the culprit. Finding an innocent bystander with cup in hand Ron proceeded to tackle him which began the worst brawl in NBA history. This scene (foxsports link) went around the world and has truly put a black mark on the NBA and Pacers organization. The best thing that could happen was that Ron was given a full year suspension. The Pacer faithful loved Ron, but in the end he truly has proven to be a ?liability.? When or if Ron is allowed to return to the NBA remains to be seen. What teams will be wanting to take a chance on him and his Jeckyl and Hyde attitude problems? Certainly a team desperate to produce a winner which will probably be the Pacers in late May.

Very Truly Yours

I find it interesting that Ben Wallace was not charged with battery on Ron Artest. In my opinion, it is clear that Wallace's "two handed shove" to Artest's chest was not part of the game, and it was after play had been clearly halted for the foul Artest committed. Additionally, it was Wallace that further incited the crowd from the main floor area after HE threw his armband at Artest and then motioned to the crowd by raising his hands in a manner associated with encouraging the crowd to get further involved.

The Michigan Prosecutor said there was no video of a Piston player striking anyone. How about the guy who started the whole thing? Ben Wallace struck Artest in the face and neck, pushing him backwards. That was on tape and started the fight on the floor. He then threw something (possibly a head ban or arm ban) at Artest. That triggered the fans to start throwing things. The Commissioner only gave him a 6 game suspension and the procecutor turned a blind eye when making charges. Looks like a "Homer" call to me. I agree there should be suspensions, but Wallace should have received the same as Artest. It's a matter of Indianapolis being a small NBA market and who cares? Shame on the Commissioner and the Prosecutor.
