Comcast Cable is going after customers who are viewing channels they haven't paid for. People who are caught will be fined $10,000. The company will penalize people who use illegal means to decode the signal, and those who accidentally have the channels but don't report it. What are your thoughts about this issue? What legal help is there for Brian Burton? What about when the cable company runs free weekends?

We had Comcast cable and their internet service. THEY decided to put us in a different payment program WITHOUT our permission and then triple billed us one month. We called over and over and said we didn't want it this way. Every month, our bill would be higher and higher. My dh would explain to the Comcast employee about the triple billing. Then the employee would say, "You are right. You actully have a credit for paying such and such on this date." So we would go another month thinking we were okay. Finally, after 5 months of this, we told them to pull the plug. We went with SBC internet and now have direct TV. Comcast told us we owed them over $100. We compromised (after many many phone calls and horrible customer service) and paid a smaller amount. Then we got a check in the mail saying we had a credit. Go figure.

Then the employees of Comcast called us once a day for 2 weeks asking us to come back. We finally had to get really nasty with them and tell them to stop calling.

I like Comcast internest much better, but there is no way I will pay them another dime.

After the falls tornado came through, it ripped out our cable and the port. It took Comcast about a week to come by and fix it. Few weeks later I noticed we had Showtime. I thought it was a promotional thing, that's what my cousin said his satellite company would do all the time. Or maybe I thought they may have given it to us for a few months for them taking so long to come and finally repair, since I was without cable/internet for over a week. Then I forgot about it and didn't give it another thought, and now I got this lawsuit claim in the mail, and they want a 4,000 out of court settlement. It's not right that they're forcing us to pay for their incompetence. Anyone doing anything against this please help, I can't afford to pay 4,000 for their incompetence.

Comcast is a scam, and quit it.

This is what I think of Comcast:

  • Big monopoly charges whatever it wants.
  • Lousy city officials are in on the mix.
  • Outrageous fees keep going up.
  • We don't have a choice.
  • My video store has more variety.
  • Everytime they make a mistake, somehow it's your fault!

first of all i pay 76.00 permont for cable and i did my own poll on the movies they show every three months they show the same movies. i called to tell them that and asked why. i was told that they do it like that because not everyone gets to see the movies and they show the same one so that eveyone can see them . well i don't watch alot of tv but i see the same movies 76.00 a month is too high for cable without any incintives, new custimers get free this and that i have had my calbe since 1988 and all i get is higher prices. if the cable company has high tech equipmnent they won't have to rely on other people reporting who has it free and who does not sure i would like to have some free cable too but my record shows i pay my bills, 912.00 a year for cable is a bit much for them not to give anything back to the people who are keeping them alive and it goes up quite often i went from 40.00 plus dollars to 76.00 a month since it is hard for me to get to the show i have the cable when i need it, why prosecute those who get it free, can the cable company not detect who does and does not pay, don't they have a rating meter that shows who all tuned in like a tv ratings, if it were more affordable more people would pay, if it came on the tv and you are in the reeption area why would you tell them to be charged that is not theft. some apartment buildings are set that way one person pays and others are on that reception line and get it free. that is on the cable company to clear that up and not put the citizens against one another it is hard enough for us to unite as one

Get with your attorney. Don't take my word for it but, I don't think Comcast can put a bill from an estate on your credit. Especialiy if the estate was insolvent. Don't let them get by with it. Good luck.

This message is to onebbygirl, you evidently did not receive a letter from Secure Signals. The letter clearly states this action is initiated by Comcast. A quote "Comcast is willing to settle its claim against me, providing I surrender the unauthorized cable tv decoder, which I do not have, and satisfactory compensation". Now, explain how you figure this is not COMCAST. You must either work for Comcast or Secure Signals to be defending this matter. Any way you look at this, it is wrong, we did nothing but tell Comcast twice to take it away, what else would you have me do. I have Comcasts' own work order in my hand that states; customer request, remove digital and two premium channels, we also told the comcast employee to remove these channels, he did not. I do not know the answer to Comcasts' problems with people truly stealing cable or their obvious problems with the service department but it definatly is not up to me to supervise their employees or climb their poles and do their jobs, I thought that was I was paying them to do.

I have to say that Comcast needs to police there own before they go after their customers. Like others on here I received HBO free for years. I bought a home, called Comcast to get a basic cable package with no premium channels. When the Comcast Rep came - the cable was already on. Seems Comcast had failed to disconnect the previous owners. The previous owners had HBO! I pointed it out to the Comcast Rep - he told me no big deal consider it a gift! I had HBO for over 5 years without paying for it - and their rep left it on for me knowing far well I never subscribed to it! So what are we the consumer suppose to do about Comcast employees? Seems they need to clean house and set up policies on their own side first! Did I steal the HBO - NO - their representative gave it to me - he was a salaried rep of Comcast!

It would be nice if this news station didn't report half of a story to feed into public attitudes of whatever or whoever this station wants to trash at the time. Very few people have seemed to notice or mention that this lawsuit has nothing to do with Comcast itself as a company. This is something that was done by Secure Systems to find people that were illegally watching their programming. If you called the number you were obviously watching a channel that you knew you were not suppose to have. Regardless of that this is not something that was only done to comcast subscribers you could have Direct TV, Bright House, Insight or whatever service you choose to use & as long as you are watching illegal channels then companies like Secure Systems will be able to go through & do this to people that are watching their programs without paying for them.

Read about this story a couple of days ago. I live in Canada, so I thought I'd call the 1-866-318-1686 that can clearly be seen in the news artical. Interesting how it says that I'm automatically entered for a draw.

In Canada we don't get HBO/Showtime/etc... so I'm curious if anything will come of this??? Any thoughts?
