Indiana's Bureau of Motor Vehicles has had several problems after a computer upgrade earlier this month. What do you think could be done to make the BMV operate more smoothly?

Anything is up from where they were at before.

The latest improvement discriminates against people whose religions forbid online money transactions.

Improve a government agency? Impossible!

All attempts at improvement make government even worse.

The license branch in Terre Haute is moving from a shopping mall with plenty of parking to a more rural location. The state's lease expires April 30 and the new branch is to be open May 1. One problem though... the building the branch is to move into... doesn't exist. Another improvement for Indiana's BMV?

There is a solution to the BMV problem. That is to stop using license plates as tax-collection devices, and give each vehicle a permanent number.

Then the BMV would do nothing but driver licenses.

This will never work, as long as Microsoft is allowed to make everyone change operating systems every three years.

It takes years to put together a database system with the capabilities needed by the BMV and law enforcement. And they have to redesign it when the operating system changes. So they just get done, and they ahve to replace it.

The rest is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

What do you expect from a bureaucracy which is essentially a tax collection system anyway?

Years ago the license branches were controlled by the Governor's Party. The respective county chair's in each county ran the branches. Hired, fired etc..the money made went to the Party of the sitting Gov. Since they made it non-partisan there has been nothing but problems

Anybody with a brain knows you don't pay for a contract before it works. If they inherited this mess from the Dems why didn't they just say so. They inherited all their corruption. The BMV seems to have cleaned most of that up.

I feel that the BMV should have been a little more prepared for something like this. Sometimes computer software does not work like it should or it takes alittle longer to learn the software. Maybe if they had a back up plan things would have worked better. My parents send their money in the mail and the check cleared around the 20th of this month. Tomorrow is the 31st and they need thier stickers, but they have not recieved them yet. The BMV has not even contacted them by mail, call or email to let them know what is going on. It is kind of frustrating.

The Bureau of Motor Vehicles needs to be abolished entirely. Horrendous service, ineffective computers, shoddy management, and severe lack of funding in serving the general public in Indiana are four key reason for the agency to be renamed as Indiana Secretary of State. The agency would best be served with an elected commissioner running the entity. Jesse White's Illinois Secretary of State maintains substantially better service now than the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles has been doing since 2000. You Figure It Out!! Joel Silverman has been a joke in Indiana under the Daniels Administration!! No wonder the people are through messing around in Indiana.
