The state Legislature has passed a bill that will mandate observance of daylight-saving time throughout Indiana. What do you think about this?

I think it is bull, if businesses are having problems and looseing money then maybe they should stay open 24 hours they wouldnt have to worry about the times..I work late and there is several other people that work late to and there is not many places open early in the mornings.

This is an absolute joke. There was nothing wrong with things as they were. If businesses in other parts of the nation cannot figure out what time it is in Indiana, then WHO is backwards? It's a 24-hour economy now, anyway. And with those who have small children in year-round school, just try getting them to bed at a decent hour when the new school year starts in the middle of July! Hey all of you DST supporters....what time is it RIGHT NOW in Minot, North Dakota???

(the rest of the nation) who cares... we have always been right... should we NOW admit... we are wrong... when IN FACT... we have ALWAYS been right we will replace this with the stupid post it was passed... when we turn our clock forward... just remember... we only wanted to be like THEM

We need to stay right where we are. We have the right time now. The rest of the country needs to change to our time. This is not going to save jobs. Just ask our neighbor states about their job loss. I don't think they blamed it on daylight savings time. I am not going to switch my time, and I will not shop at any local buisness that does.

Thank You

I think it's about time to get off the backward lazy way of thinking and doing things. It is time to join with the rest of the country. How hard can it be to adjust your clocks 2 times a year? The world will not change for you, you have to change for the world.

Some one needs to explain in simple terms what is going on and what is at stake here?

?Indiana?s summer amount of daylight has 15-16 hours of daylight. Our wintertime amount of daylight is about 8-9. The physical laws of our solar system and our geography will not change.

Right now?.

?.Our summertime sunrise occurs at 5:00am, and the typical workday starts at 8:00am?.giving us what??.3 full beautiful hours of daylight that most of us sleep in because we have to be at work soon?We really don?t do much for ourselves with that time because we have to be at work soon.

We (Hoosiers) can change one hour of that existing daylight from the morning to the evening?where we might do something other than sleep or get ready for work?!

?Just think what you could do with an extra hour of light in the evening..!

?The KEY ISSUE is when do you want your workday to start?when do you want the WORKDAY to END?during the hours of daylight that exist?? Do you want the workday to start closer to sunrise?or closer to sunset???

?.Said differently?of the 15-16 hours of blessed sunlight, where do you want ?most of your personal? 8 hours to be??.Remember these are the 8 hours of each working day that ?working people? can control, ?not the boss?

?.AND, because INDIANA is on the WESTERN SIDE of it?s time zone?we can have that free time in the EVENING for ?PERSONAL?DON?T HAVE TO GET READY FOR WORK time?!

THE WAY IT IS NOW IN INDIANA?

? I have my workday start later in relation to the sunrise. I get to spend my ?free time? doing things like waking up and getting ready for work. I really do not have any free time however, because I am under a deadline to be at work in a short period of time.

In the evening, by the time I get home from work?(I?m getting home later in relation to the sunlight because I have the extra hour in the morning?remember?), and I get hungry, my wife prepares the evening meal, cleans the dishes, suddenly it is getting dark, or there is only a small amount of daylight left?. So I basically get home, eat, and go to bed because it is dark. This is what happens by not?repeat?NOT?observing Daylight Saving Time.

NOW LET?S IMAGINE DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME?AND?STAY IN EASTERN TIME ZONE?

?We start our working day earlier in time span of daylight ( still 15-16 hours in the summertime). I am choosing to move my working 8 hours of time (for the ?Master?) earlier in the period of daylight?which means my working time of 8 hours on the clock, ends earlier in the 15-16 hours of summer daylight.

What is left over is more daylight in the evening?.for me?!

Now let?s examine this ?new? evening with more daylight (I went to work earlier and came home earlier in the amount of daylight). I come home, my wife and I become hungry, we prepare a meal, clean up, and suddenly it is NOT get dark soon?

?now instead of going to bed earlier, maybe, I?ll do something for myself.

Maybe, I?ll walk off some of that supper?would working of a few calories for all of us make a healthier Indiana? Would it reduce weight? Would it make us more fit? Would we take up Tennis? Play more golf? With our Wives? Will I go to the store an buy something, because I have more time before bed?

I will have that extra our of daylight to choose?

I have an extra hour of daylight for one simple reason?.

I and all of us Hoosiers are blessed by landing on the Western Edge of a Time Zone?!

I live in Indiana, on the WESTERN EDGE of a TIME ZONE?in this case it is the Eastern Time Zone? Not the New York City time zone?.they just happen to be in the same time zone as INDIANA?

There are many communities in the Eastern Time Zone, Ohio?, Michigan, Eastern Kentucky?, Eastern Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.

Does it bother them that they are in the same time as New York City?no, they are their own communities.

Do you see them saying that they need to be aligned with Chicago because they are more ?Midwestern? than ?East Coast??again, NO, they are their own communities?

Indiana is it?s own community. Working people of this community can provide something for themselves?.more free time during daylight.

?We can observe Daylight Savings Time (yes spring our clock ahead ?but the ?Timeclock? at work is also sprung ahead,) and because we are on the WESTERN EDGE of the EASTERN TIME ZONE ?our work day end earlier in the amount of sunlight?!

By doing this our workday starts nearer to sunrise, and end farther from sunset?

?We as a community of people, who should care less about a big city, will start our working day earlier or closer to when the sun came up, and end?.END or workday?farther from the time the sun will go down?

Businessmen can figure out how to do business with Chicago, so don?t let that become a reason to move to the Central Time Zone?

One more item, and I?ll quit?

I agree with iwu08,...in the summertime, ?if? we are on the CENTRAL TIME ZONE would be the same as we are now, like Danville and Chicago, however in the Winter and moving to CENTRAL time zone, it will be "getting dark" at 4:00pm and "PITCH BLACK" at 5:00pm...

?Let me put it another way...on the days that you can "see the sunset...It will occur at about 3:45pm in December"...talk about our kids traveling in the dark, at the worst time of year, and weather!!!...plus the seasonal affective disorder issues...

Indiana has a great gift being on the "Western Edge of the EASTERN TIME ZONE"...

That needs to be said again?Indiana Has a great gift being on the Western Edge of a Time Zone !!!!

Forget about the fact that New York City is in the same time zone...That is our only relationship with New York?We are Indiana, period.

Do Not let Daniels and his associates take that away from us by moving us to the Central Time Zone?Chicago would love to be in our Time Zone?just ask them?if they would enjoy having an extra hour in the evening, after they ?clock off from work?!

Anyone who thinks this will bring jobs is sadly mistaken. Our job loss was due to excessive property taxes, inventory taxes etc. We have now changed our time but allowing the counties to increase property tax. Hmmmmm makes a lotta sense to me. I bet we won't have enough people to fill all the jobs that will come from this time change. HAHA what a joke. More time should have been spent on the budget and less on this time change. Nothing like making at least half the constituents mad the first 4 months in office.
