The Democratic and Republican Parties are scrambling to get Hawaii's four electoral college votes.

The two sides are sending their "stars" to try and get votes. The Democrats are pouring hundreds of thousands of dollars into TV ad time.

What do you think about the candidates and the scramble for Hawaii votes?

I was happy that the national committees bought airtime in Honolulu but was horrified to see that they mainly selected negative ads to present their viewpoints. They were mainly telling us why not to vote for the other guy rather than why we should vote for the right guy. I was kind of ashamed to see that they chose the negative ads to present in Hawaii; as if that is the kind of message that would sway or provoke us in a positive way.

Kindest regards

The Dems lost because they diden't get it. Every where that anti- gay marriage was on the ballot it passed by a wide margin. A Couple of states evan went against civil unions, seeing it as the same thing. Itslike teling Hetrosexuals its okey to shack up and have babies out of wedlock. Its not!! However I would rather see the babies born and raised then aborted. Plus I don't like the stigma that was common for both mother and child years ago. I don't like the relig-e-o-so right being allowed to be judgemental thats God's. However it was close to close for comfort, America came very close to doing the wrong thing. Although it was a clear win on both electral votes and pop votes, Kerry still got to close to the White House. It was a long night but a very bright morning. Bush has the House and Senate and he can get his appointments made. We can over turn Roe v Wade. The pedulem is kind of in the middle slightly to the right. I don't see much swing soon. So the we have to continue to work hard. Balance is good. You don't want to go to far to fast.

Bush Won!!!!! Hawai'i Dems are not stupid. To call them stupid is an insult and wrong. Not everyone is clued in on pol-e-tics. Last time I checked, it was not a requirement for voting. 1 Man one vote. Stupid man smart man no difference. Maybe that is why when all this started the only people that got to Vote were white male land owners. This whole voting thing by the way is a fairly new idea. Back in the real old days the people begged for kings. Partly so that they would not have to choose. Choice causes division. Name calling only prolongs the pain delays the healing. So stop the name calling. Name calling makes you look more stupid then the people you are calling stupid. Also will not win them over for anything.

Ignorance is once again alive and plentiful in the Democratic realm!

Many Democrats in Hawaii are extremely stupid.

My last statement is NOT a put down!

Actually it is fact.

Some of the people who voted for Kerry don't have a clue what he stands for or know how politics operate!

Gulliblity and ignorance=Hawaii Democrat.

I've talked to many who voted for Kerry and these "educated" voter did not even have a clue about Kerry's past or voting record.

When I clued them in on these truths...they were quite shocked and never realized the kind of politician Kerry really is.

Sad.

I'm new to this message board and my previous post did not make it on. Not sure why. Dick Cheney coming in on Halloween is absolutely perfect!! I wonder if loyalty oaths are being taken here in Hawaii. If she sinks to that level I will work every day to get her out of office. Listening to her on CNN was pretty amazing. Being an owner of a small business (11 employees) here on Maui I couldn't believe what she was saying. I'd like to see her figure out a way to pay for health care insurance that goes up all the time. G Bush's tax cuts did not help us one bit. I don't know what she was talking about on CNN.

I wonder, will everyone who wants to hear VP Cheney be required to sign an oath of allegiance to the Republican ticket? I guess an undecided voter would then be forced toward Kerrey-Edwards which would be the intelligent choice anyway. Perhaps all the undecideds can meet at an "undisclosed location" to discuss the Halliburton scandal and the future former VP's impending legal woes.

NO MORE YEARS!

Dick Cheney??? You have got to be kidding. Do Hawaii mothers and fathers relate at all to Iraqi mothers and fathers? Unbelievable how war hungry Bush/Cheney have made our peaceful islands. It's very sad. And Linda Lingle, you are showing your true heart and soul.

Real Simple. Gore lies Kerry's daughter lies. A vote for "Duke" is a vote for continued foreign rule. Just one more carpet bagger come to dress the natives, and he is not even bringing them Jesus along with it. The vote for statehood was close. Partly because they (whites) feared a day like this when late in the afternoon what Hawai'i said might really matter. I have a question I never did figure out. If Gore won more Pop Votes then Bush. How come they are not running him again!!!! I am not a big fan of Bush and I hate the idea of STOP LOSS and not honoring Rotation DAyes and Not Honoring ETS. However that far better then Kerry voting for partial birth abortions. What matters to me is who is running for school board. That affects my Keiki's life the most. My keiki both freshman at Waianae High havebeen subjected to F911. I have been subjected to it at my business school. I have the rebuttal tape. Michael Moore is FAT. Last year at this time I was running for city council in in a small town in Oregon. I was in the same election book as G. Bush. I still have that book. I lost and a couple of weeks later the offer came to come to Hawai'i so we took it. We were happy then and we are happy now. Go Vote.

Thanks to the REAL success of linda lingle and the hawaii GOP, we (the people of hawaii) are realizing that this democrat run state could be much better with repulicans in charge. People in this state are tired of the same old line towed by the dem's. HAwaii will deliver our electoral votes to bush. kerry is a completely unqualified candidate and people can see that. The people of this state are honest and hardworking, and they understand the seriousness of the current situation. They realize that Kerry has nothing to bring to the table but a bunch of socialist rhetoric

Currently in this state we have quest... according to http://www.state.hi.us/dhs/Q-Book.html The financial requirements to qualify are "have income not more than 100% of the current FPL"

The Current Federal Poverty Line for the state of hawaii is $10,330 (single person) taken from http://aspe.hhs.gov/poverty/03poverty.htm

now here is what john kerry said in the 3rd debate

"Here's what I do: We take over Medicaid children from the states so that every child in America is covered. And in exchange, if the states want to -- they're not forced to, they can choose to -- they cover individuals up to 300 percent of poverty. It's their choice." keep in mind that he already also said "We take over Medicaid children from the states so that every child in America is covered." so this measure is bassically not for families it is for individuals so lets look at that and do the math free health care for anyone makeing 300% of $10,330 is $30990/Year Now how many of you truley believe someone making approx 31,000 a year deserves FREE MEDICAL COVERAGE FROM the Federal Government.

On this basis Alone i think kerry does not resonate with the mainstream in this state and that is why he will loose hawaii!
