I guess all this money that is being gathered from the cummunity is fine. However I'm sure it will most likely be mis-managed. I'm not really sure why all this money is being funneled because last time I checked, the school is completely insured for all its losses. Go figure!

I am the mother of a EGHS junior. My son came into this school district as a freshman after moving here from the midwest. He had a hard time adjusting to say the least but Dr. Cook and others helped him so much to become a better student. They all showed how much they cared. I could not of asked for a more caring principle for my son to have. I feel she really does love all the students and she is the key to this school being such a wonderful place for our kids to attend. This tragedy will not make this school weaker, it will make it stronger then ever. The community, students, parents and staff have all proved this. I am proud to be a EGHS parent and I know this feeling will only continue to grow!

I think it is really wonderfully how the people of this community raley together to support our neightbors in times of great need. I can't help but wonder why the questions has not come up Why exactly is it necessary for the community to pitch in? Where is the money the tax payers have already paid into the school system, wasn't the school insured and where is the insurance money, and most importantly where is the money from the North Carolina Educational Lottery? Should these not be financial sources used in helping these kids (and the teaching faculty) in getting their education and getting what they need to start over?!?

As a class of '86 graduate and former EGHS cheerleader, I think we need to take a monent and tell the current football team how much we, their extended family are behind them tonight. You guys are doing something that very few of your predicessors have done. Football has never been a highly successful sport at EGHS and whatever happens tonight you should all be proud of yourselves. The bricks and morter may be gone, but we are forever EGHS!
LET'S GO TO SOUTHERN GUILFORD AND KICK SOME BUTT!!!

The events at GCHS this week have indeed been tragic. As many of you have stated, a miracle occurred when all students and staff were removed from the premises safely. I do however have one question--something for everyone to think about: Has anyone else noticed in all the pictures of the school, during and after the fire, that "Ole Glory" is still waving and was not destroyed? In the wake of tragedy within this country 'she' continues to keep us together and focused. A focus now that should be towards continuing to provide these children/young adults with the best possible education instead of placing blame and creating heartache.

I am glad to see so many responses to Jess. If you do not like the way things are here in good ol North Carolina, go on back to Virgina. Guilford county has the third largest school system in NC and they are doing a great job educating and protecting my children. There are many schools and other buildings around without sprinklers in them. Some of them you shop in everyday. So you know, you don't need to depend on sprinklers, you need old fashion emergency prepairdness. Get a life. Shera 1981

I graduated from EGHS in '95. I never went back after graduating, though I always wanted to.
I feel like I've lost an old friend today.

I've only lived in NC for only a year, and EGHS has already became a home. I was in my 3rd period class when the fire broked out. I will miss the old school building. But at least everyone made it out alive. I hope that the school board will keep us together as we'd started to recover from this terrible loss. Sarah Rusch Mcleansville

so is this all you people want to do is start sayin whose fault it is... not me I say thank god nobody was killed... I say lets give a hand to the staff for getting all the students out unharmed...yes maybe the building is lost but lets give a hand to the firefighters for keeping it from spreading to nearby homes...I went to EG my freshman year in highschool I am now a Senior at Western Alamance but i still have many friends at EG I am more worried about how they are doing rather than who's fault it is...so why don't we start thanking the people who deserve thanks instead of blaming them...you can prepare all you want for something like this but when it happens for real it is a completly different thing just think about how you would have felt and dont let your emotions get the best of you we all loved EG but now is not the time to blame now is the time to be thankful to everyone who did there job to the BEST of the abilities
