Thousands of people took part in rallies in South Carolina and around the nation to protest the failure of legislation to broaden immigrant rights. Share your views on the matter with other WYFF 4 viewers in this discussion.

I worked at a construction company and when we called Greenville County regarding suspect social security numbers of potential new hires, the very polite officer who responded told us there was nothing he could do. That was several years ago.
Now, I have a Mexican family living across the street from me. There are at least 4 cars there every day, but they park some of them in the back yard so they won't be seen. One of the women just had a child not six months ago and she's pregnant AGAIN!
I have been writing to Lindsey Graham regularly and I will do so again to suggest he read some of these messages.
This has got to STOP!!!

well right now Bush has passed the bill and is now having people near the border. and yea i agree those who are illegal should be deported. they are rallying on their own because they know if they become legal then they have to pay their own taxes instead of us paying it for them

I see the topic of sales taxes paid by the illegal immigrants has been mentioned. I track the amount of "sales tax" that I pay each year. Unless you are constantly buy big ticket items, the sales taxes to NOT equal 1 trip to the emergency room, 1 week of the cost of a child in public school, 1 traffic accident by an uninsured illegal immigrant. The store owners may see a small benefit, however the tax paying, law abiding people in this country get the shaft once again.

For Gloria74: Please tell me where "terriorist" are from?!? How dare you assume that all terrorist are foreign!! Have you forgotten Oklahoma City?? This is NOT a racial thing but a legal one! If you went to Mexico and decided to stay illegally, you would be charged with a felony, sent to prison and once you got out, deported!

Anyone living on US soil without a proper Visa or Citizen status is commiting a crime; this makes those people criminals. The same as anyone else in jail or prison who has been caught for their crimes is a criminal. The majority of Visa applicants having difficulty getting their Visas approved have either sent the forms filled out wrong or have something in their past that causes the delay. Not everone who applies has the right to be approved! Whether an illegal immigrant works or not, they will never be turned down for emergency medical care (our tax payers paid for). What concerns me most is the lack of respect shown to our country and it's laws. If an American family falls on hard times and must reduce to a much smaller home Social Services insists the new place provides a specific number of bedrooms for the children. Illegal families, on the other hand, typically pile into one home, like sardines in a can, so money can be sent south of the border. So many illegals do work, but at the expense of our rights. Before any Non mexican is allowed to live in that country they must provide proof of a set amount of income among other things so as not to be a burden on that society. Not only is our country suppose to forgive all immigration crimes, the Hispanic people expect us to smile about it, and allow you to rewrite our National Anthem plus have it in Spanish. Start packing. Illegals go HOME and take BUSH with you!

A quick thought. Illegal immigrants and there supporters want to boycott American businesses to show ecomonic clout. For the next 30 days American businesses should refuse to sell thier products or services to them.

Illegal is illegal. If we were to do anything illegal, we would be arrested. How can you demand constitutional rights that you have no constitutional right to?? As an native born American, my Dad was a Marine, my 7 uncles were all in the military, my 2 brothers, (1 is highly decorated OSI) my 2 sons and my son-in-law all served with honor. I married a man from Ghana, he is highly educated, works for the US military in IRAQ. We got an approved visa, it took us 2 years and about $2000 in fees. We were told that the visa will not be issued because I am older than my husband. He knew, and I knew about the age difference. Before anyone illegal is allowed to stay, as an American, I demand the visa we obtained LEGALLY! When we were notified that the visa was approved, my husband had to go to a doctor get a physical, and immunizations. These people are walking across the border without benefit of this medical attention. Is there any wonder we are now experiencing outbreaks of various diseases? They are taking jobs that are low paying, therefore no medical benefits. Where do you think their incomes are supplemented?

folks, lets not forget we were once immigrants. these people also pay taxes when they purchase in grocery stores, department stores, etc. we should give them opportunity to have the same rights. they are not terrorists, we know were terrorist are from. lets face it we have become a multi cultural country and it is not going to change

Folk's ,this is America not Mexico. Its time we stood up for ourselves and say no to illegals. If your here illegally "go home" or be deported. Learn our language,become an American citizen ,get a job ,become part of the greatest nation in the world. "Americans" do not wish to support any more deadbeat,no working couch potato's who come here for the free ride. Join the working class or go back to mexico,stay stoned and hurt their economy instead of ours.

illegal immigrates are not in this country legally so they don't have any first ammendment rights. their not U.S. citizens and we should not be paying for their medical either. i pay for my medical insurance and still have to pay on my medical bills. if they weren't here there would be plenty of jobs for americans to do and unemployment would be almost erased. the taxes would be payed to the federal goverment. $20 billion a year to mexico along is sent untaxed. they are breaking our laws. if we go to their countries and break their laws we are jailed for months without a trial. send them back to their countries till they can come back legally.
