A billboard, unveiled on the same day that a controversial movie depicting the last hours of Jesus Christ premiered, is sparking criticism from people of all faiths.

The outdoor marquee says, "Jews Killed The Lord Jesus." Do you think the sign is anti-Semitic? Is it accurate? Tell us your thoughts.

Do you think the movie "The Passion of the Christ" is anti-Semitic? If you've seen it, what were your thoughts on the film? Was it powerful? Accurate? Did you take your children to see the movie?

its true-jesus died for all people.some people are contencious-insincere-without love.paul says that.a certain few jews were present when the romans nailed jesus to the cross.actually the romans killed jesus.it wasnt just jews that were agreeing to the idea.why put such emphasice on a single scripture? paul was a jew at one time and we know his deeds were evil before he beleived on jesus.id say the upc that put the sign up needs to do as paul did--repent of unbeleif and receive jesus the son of god.

its so

While i don't think hatred is the answer,as our Lord Jesus would have disagreed and reprimand any form of hatred,I will let his own written words, point out who killed him:

Jesus speaking to a group of Pharisees: "I know that you are descendants of Abraham; yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you. I speak of what I have seen with my Father, and you do what you have heard from your father. They answered him, "Abraham is our father." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do what Abraham did. ... You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks according to his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies. But, because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. Which of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? He who is of God hears the words of God; the reason why you do not hear them is you are not of God." (John 8:37-39, John 8:44-47)

so there you can make your own conclusions, which to me they are clear. So I think,Mel gibson's movie The Passion of The Christ told the whole story as it happened in the written New Testament. I see no anti-semitism,but a historical fact, according to The Word. I would probably not be wrong to guess that if Jesus were to come again,as a "human Messiah", the Jewish religious would not hesitate to kill him again,or to seek out his destruction by all means, they are zealots of the Jewish religion that do not accept anybody else calling himself God,other than the only God they worship. So it is impossible to get either Jewish or Christian side to agree with one another. it will never happen! That's why it's important to do an effort to be in peace with one another.

"OY gevalt". Gut in himmel right back at 'ya. They do not believe in watching tv or going to the movies? Well, so how about reading? May I suggest "Heritage: Civilization and the Jews" by Abba Eban? It could be helpful whether in tv documentary form or in book form. I also think movies like "Schindler's List", "Sunshine" and "The Pianist" might throw some light on the subject. How can they say that their church loves Jewish people? It sounds a bit patronizing. people who they do not really know? It sounds Dare I say logging on to Jewish educational websites? Oy gevalt!

Touche and bravo. I absolutely agree with you. I'd prefer not being preached to regarding Jesus. since he is not my messiah, lord and savior. Therefore, I am not responsible for his death, and he did not die for my sins. I have my own personal beliefs and take offense when someone says these kinds of things.

Mel had taken specific parts of the 4 gospels, and from his traditionalist dogma, that suited his needs to tell the story his way. This led to untruths. The arbitrary nature of pulling facts led to untruths. It was the Romans who used the crucifix to publicly display the dying. They hammered the nails into the body, and stood it upright for all to see the agony of a slow, painful death. One of the things the Nazis did to Jews during the Holocaust was public executions, among other horrific things. Did you see the remarkable movie, "Sunshine"? In fact, during the Inquisition, Pogroms, and Crusades this form of public murder was also employed.

Yup, you said it....perhaps more right to the point than I would have, but what you stated was all correct. When I was asked by a Christian if I though the film was anti-Semitic, my response was that it certainly was. After describing those particular scenes, the person had no idea what I was talking about. He claimed not to have seen the numerous symbolic and obvious examples that I saw. Well, of course not. The Passion Plays began in the middle ages a tool to spark Jewish hatred anew. It told of the Jewish murder of Jesus, and other false stories that resulted in untold deaths, tortures and expulsions of Jews around the world. This Passion was no different. Mel's Passion presented his traditionalist Christian story in no uncertain terms. His total disregard for the doctrines taken from the Vatican II conference in 1965 was ridiculously narrow-minded and anti-Semitic. Mel should tell both his mother and father to keep their collective, anti-Semitic mouths shut. There was a reason why Mel couldn't get anyone to fund this film.

First of all.. the Bible is Without Controversy. Read I Timothy 3:16..

If you dont believe that, you wont believe anything.

Second.. the Jews DID kill Jesus, thats also without controversy as the ENTIRE Bible is about Jews and Gentiles.. Or perhaphs some of you havent read your Bible. Or maybe you would take the word of a Neighbor, or so called Priest or otherwise and believe what they tell you instead of what the Bible sais.. GUess its just easier to hear than to ACTUALLY READ. At any rate, if you READ the Bible you will understand that that sign is true. THere is no Controversy, its just hard for people to swollow the TRUTH of God's word. Search your hearts, dont pick at someone elses head. And Read the WORD before you claim to spark a Controversy. There is no controversy here. He's right.. the Bible speaks for itself. And your creator will defend it at the last call. Think ya might ought ta think about it now, before you have to face it in Judgement. Or maybe you wont, guess its up to you.. but it'll be too late then.

It is truely a shame that this happened. This in no way resembles the beliefs of UPC people I know and love.

Sometimes, ministers like him are a hindrance instead of a help to people. Our Great Commission is not to condemn anyone; but to show Jesus Christ and Him crucified and risen to the world. This is also known as the Good News.

I believe that the UPC needs to keep closer tabs on such men so that controversies like this will not continue. When a minister no longer shows the love he is required to, someone else needs to step in and give that man a break!

He obviously has some real issues that needs to be resolved at Calvary. Jesus gave himself freely. If you want to know who killed Jesus, all of us did, because of our sin.

The previous posting grieves my heart. The writer misinterprets the misguided attempt on the pastors part to encourage people to look in their bibles for answers. This fear and hatred directed toward the appearance of evil (which Christians are told to avoid) is the fruit. My interpretation of Christianity is that it is not ripped off, but a continuation of Judaism. Has the billboard been taken down?

Blessings, 1Intrepid1
