Allegations have surfaced about sex parties for football recruits, and the rape of a female place kicker by a teammate.

Do you believe that football recruits were offered sexual favors to enroll at CU? Do you think school officials actually orchestrated these "sex parties" and turned a blind eye?

Do you think CU football officials should be held accountable, even though they said they had no knowledge of what was allegedly happening?

Do you think the university is doing enough regarding these allegations?

Please share your thoughts.

Maybe one day sports and the players will not be the only thing on campus that is considered important. Hopefully in the future the students that are there to learn will be held in high esteem. Even back in the dark ages (mid 1970's) the atheletic department got and did what they wanted, the rest just quietly got their degree and went on.

I think that Elizabeth Hoffman should be canned for what she thinks is a term of endearment when I feel that "the four lettered C word" IS obscene, It may have been in the 13th century, but seeing as to how it IS the 21st century, I find that word totally unacceptable.

I go to CU right now and i feel that the general public is sick and wrong for pre-judging the football team before any proof has been brought foward. I know players at the University of Colorado, and i know for a fact that these players are not rapists. Everyone is already labeling the team as being thugs and bad people. But do you know these people. I feel that this whole case is a way to place the blame on certain category rather than on an individual. I feel that this whole situation is a witch hunt or a modern day red scare. I feel that it is unfair how a person can claim rape and place charges but not identify the persons name. It is horrible because individuals can say certain things have happened to them way after the fact eventhough there would be no way to prove it. Its their word against them. This situation is getting out of hand and the public should realize this. Barnett, did nothing wrong. Ifeel that it is not in his job description to investigate problems, it should be the accusers problem. I dont see why It is so big because even if the charges were real, rapes happen every 3 seconds in the U.S. It happens everywhere. It happens at every school, on-campus and off-campus, fraternities, it happens everywhere. Boulder is a very close minded place. There are a lot of people that are being hurt by this situation at CU. Not only the Football team but minorities throughout campus. At CU, it is already seen that all african- americans on campus are athletes, eventhough it is not true and it is making look as if all of the blacks on campus are rapists. Before any of you people out there judge anyone, why dont you wait until facts have been proven before you start talking and finding someone to blame. This is sick and it is wrong how individuals do this on a daily basis

I know one thing, I am deeply involved in this case and I really hope some people loose their jobs. I am wondering if "clueless" barnett would let his daughter spend an evening with these barbarians he calls his team. I know this case VERY personally and I know for a FACT these guys are bad. These parents are as dull as a butter knife, this doesnt suprise me though, ignorance breeds ignorance and these people are bursting at the seams with it.

Thank u, Hel

Just a note of support to the majority of the CU community who are completely uninvolved in the football program and who are suffering through this intense time. CU, its academics, its people (including those players who are articulate, academic, and ethical) -- you are still deserving of respect.

I went to school at C.U. in fall of '89 and it was the SAME thing. Same thugs, same rapists. I remember an article written in the Westword I believe where they interviewed Bill McCartney and he said they recruited all the gangsters because the were the best players. It's no surprise to me to hear of these reports. What's funny is seeing all these players and ex-players coming to the defense like they are so innocent. Ha!! I went to school with those same guys and have seen them out and seen how they act towards women. I currently still live in Boulder and when I go out to bars I see these same thugs out. They are extremely RUDE and the things I've been called and asked border on sexual/verbal harassment. I had one player flat out ask me as I walked by if I wanted to ****. Just nasty and rude. I've seen how they act in bars--they stand around in a huddle and harass women as they walk by because the are "football players" and can get away with it. The need to get rid of that program at C.U. until they recruit respectable decent players. I'm so sick of living in Boulder and constantly hearing about the football team. It's never anything good. Paying Barnett 80K a month is absurd for a SPORT.

I'm from Massachusetts. I heard on World News this morning that coach Barnett is "earning" (yeah, right) a million and a half dollars a year. IS THIS A FACT? If so, it is ridiculous! This is FOOTBALL for crying out loud! Who pays his salary? Is it the taxpayers? Why aren't they outraged? Is this huge paycheck why so many people can't send their kids to college? If I was a taxpayer in Colorado, I'd ask this to be investigated. I'm so sick of these coaches and atheletes thinking that they can do anything they want. The problem is: they CAN. They never seem to pay for anything they do to women. It's time to stop this and it's time that someone, somewhere look at the salaries these sports people are making.

No woman should have to suffer being raped. It is painful, both mentally and physically. I am no fan of sports, whether it me professional sports or at the college level. But people must look at the entire picture. It is a fact of life that college kids like to party, like they are finally free of parental control. It should be remembered that this applies to women as well as men. If a person has any intelligence at all, they should know that drunks do unspeakable, inappropriate things. This begs the question, why does an intelligent woman put herself in that predicament? Had there been smart drinking, perhaps the rapes would not have occured. Keep the coach. From what I have seen and heard, he has not done anything wrong. Punish those who have committed the crime.

They are treated as gods at the colleges which are suppose to be places of higher learning. Yes they may bring in money from the networks but why should I have to pay more money for shoes for some guy to play a game. Yes there are exceptions, but I have heard so many times the "you have to give him a C or he will be put on susspension" The sports department is not what college is about, it is learning. LEARNING ABOUT THE HOW TO CURE CANCER, DESIGN A BUILDING BUILD A BETTER CAR NOT FOOTBALL.
