The woman who admitted setting the largest fire in Colorado history was sentenced in Federal Court to 6 years in prison.

She also faces state charges in the fire.

Do you think her sentence was appropriate? If not, what sentence to you think she should have served?

Oh Please!! Poor Terry Barton, upset with the outcome of her sentencing from the state court, now saying the Judge was "biased", that there was a "conflict of interest" because the Judge who sentenced her was in close proximity of the fire and he was directly affected by the fire.

Who in the hell living in this state wasn't affected in some way, by that fire?! I live 175 miles away from where the fire was and my children and I were affected, by the smoke. It was a very, very hot, dry summer last year and if you were outdoors you could smell the smoke, you could see ash particles floating all around, in Denver and the surrounding suburbs and even to the far East! You couldn't drive with your a/c on, because the smell of smoke would emit through the vents! People had to close the windows in their homes! People that had weak respiratory systems and even some that didn't had to receive medical care for breathing the smoke filled air.

This was the worst wild fire in Colorado's history, we lost hundreds and hundreds of forest to this fire and not to mention the poor familes who lost everything to this horrendous fire. It's one thing to lose your home and all of your possessions to a natural, unpreventable disaster, but, there was a person who started this fire and she was a forest worker on top of that, who knew the fire danger in the state!! She of ALL people should have known better!!

She got 6 years on the Federal Charges and she got 12 years on the State charges. In my opinion she should have gotten more and what she did get, should stick, given that she will only end up serving 1/2 on both sentences anyway!

Her and her lawyer will have a hard time finding any county in Colorado who won't have some "conflict of interest" with this case.

She needs to accept her sentence and quit whining about "poor me, I didn't get a fair hearing." She needs to inform her lawyer to stop with the searching for "loop holes" in an attempt to get her a reduced sentence!!

She say's she sorry for what she did, then, Terry Barton, shut up, do your time and quit whining and stop using more taxpayer dollars.

I have absolutely zero sympathy for this woman.

Putting this woman in jail will help no one. She should be given a tent to live in the burned area where she can spend her days doing what she can to help the land recover. She should work at least 10 hrs a day for as long as her sentence is...why should she sit in jail at taxpayers expense and watch color tv? gc

Her sentence should reflect a commitment back to the community and the lives of those people who lost homes, personal belongs, family pets, etc.

She should receive a work-release type of sentencing whereby she would be required to work 40 hours a week of community service to rebuild homes, re-forestation, etc., for whatever time period set by the courts.
