Amendment 50 would allow casino towns to vote on whether to increase bet limits to $100 from $5, expand hours of operation and add games.

Supporters said the measure will make Colorado more competitive with other gaming states and make a real difference in the community college system.

Opponents said around the clock casino operations and an increase to $100 bet limits may lead to increased gambling problems and pathological addiction and is an unstable resource for community colleges.

What does it say about a community that encourages gambling?

Vote NO.

For what it's worth,

Jason

It's easy to think that 78 percent of gambling money will go to education, but that's not true.

First: It's only money from the new gambling that's allowed under 50. None of the millions the casinos currently make goes to education.

Second: Of the new money, 80 percent goes directly to the casinos.

Third: Of the 20 percent of that, most of that will go to education, but whatever is put in from casinos will get yanked away from the current funding from the legislature.

This is too risky for Colorado. Vote No on Amendment 50!
