Amendment 46 would prohibit the state from granting preferential treatment to anyone on the basis of race, sex, or ethnicity in hiring, education and contracts.

Supporters said this would allow the government to see each person as an individual.

Opponents said it would eliminate programs like summer camps on math, just for girls, that are funded through public education.

What are your thoughts on Amendment 46? Do you support it? How do you feel about affirmative action?

I resent carpetbaggers coming into Colorado with their confusing and deceptive amendments that try to undo affermative action programs becase they beleive we are now a color blind nation. It typical of this kind of people to not be open about heir intentions. How about an amendment that says "vote yes if you want to end affirmative action". Then if the majority peoeple say yes its yes. I personally know of people who signed the petition because they were misled by those seeking their signature. I also believe that as long as we have "first african american" or "first hispanic" to do or acomplish anything we have not gone far enough. All it means is that one of us finally got through inspite of everything that has kept us from it in the past.

very truly yours Juan Moran
