A massive pet food recall has made millions of pet owners nervous. Major retailers across North America have been swamped with calls from worried customers after millions of containers of cat and dog food were recalled.

How has this recall affected you or your pet?

this is all disgusting & the fda needs to better regulate things as well as the government needs to have better laws on importing.

i just heard on todays news that there's more pet foods added by menu foods. why so late? dont they know who they shipped stuff out to so they could've produced the entire list in the first place? talk about irresponsible, thanks to this late added news more pets have been eating poisoned products. swell...i appreciate being put in the position of having to keep abreast of the news alot in case somethings amiss, plus i'm sick of feeling teary eyed over lost pets (not my own, but only by chance).

i feel sorry for all your pets to those of you who put your comments here about your sick little ones & dead ones...i cry for them.

We believe that our dog of 5 years Mesha died due this problem. When we took her to the vet they said her kidneys were failing and asked what poison she got into. We were basically tols they didnt know what was wrong with her and brought her home to die.

OUR FAMILY RECENTLY LOST OUR BEAUTIFUL LAB/MIX 'SUZIE' APRIL 2ND AND IT WAS BECAUSE WE HAD FEED HER ALPO CANNED DOG FOOD.WE WERE VERY SAD AND ANGRY AT THE SAME TIME.I FEEL THAT ALPO SHOULD BE RESPONSABLE FOR VET BILL AND THE MONEY TO GET ANOTHER DOG. WELL WE WAS NOT GOING TO WAIT FOR SOMETHING T THAT WE KNEW WASN'T GONNA HAPPEN. NOW AS OF APRIL 17TH WE BOUGHT A BEAUTIFUL SHEPPERD/MIX AND SHE IS A WONDERFULL DOG. WE WILL NOT FEED HER ANY ALPO.THAT'S FOR SURE!

My mother bought some Pet Pride food from King Soopers on Lincoln and Jordan from their mark downs. She thought for a moment, I wonder why it's marked down, but it can't be because it's part of the foods being recalled. Come to find out it actually is one of the brands being recalled, and we fed at least three or four cans of it to our dog.

We're really worried, but we don't know what kind of signs to look out for.. I can't find them anywhere, and phone lines for the vets offices have been too busy to get through.

Can anyone give me some information? Or at least a site that has information I can use..?

"Pet maker can't explain deaths", dated March 21st.

"Pet food tests killed 1 in 6, FDA says", dated March 20th.

"Test of pet food killed 7, FDA says", dated March 19th.

These articles are the most capricious and underhanded articles I have seen in a long time. Examine the dates of the articles. Examine the studies by the FDA. Examine the reasons by the manufacturer. Put it together.

All apologies to the ones who have lost theirs dearly. My heart truly emphasizes with those who have a first hand loss of their pets highlighted within.

May I please reiterate my response from an alternate column? (Should we eat cloned food?)

Did the FDA fail you? Do you honestly have trust in them? If they cannot keep cyanide (rat poison) out of our pets' food, how can you trust them to have a solid standpoint in reason for cloning animals for human consumption?

It is not about science. It is about human error. Or, possibly, human deception.

Think twice about what you buy, or more importantly, about what you trust.

I really feel for the people who have lost their pets. I guess someone slipped rat poisin in it. In the past 6 months we have lost a beloved dog and horse. No matter how they die it is hard but to have a well respected and known pet food company have this kind of problems it is not even in the realm of understanding. For those of you who want to make your own food, chicken legs and thighs are better because animals need some fat. Also add rice and some veggies. I add a vitamin pill. If you read the packages of food they will give you what is supposed to be a balanced diet. One other thing is that soft food is a cause of tooth decay so something to crunch on is a good idea.

I just read the latest update and our pets have died from rat poison. Can you believe that!!!! I don't care about the money. I just want my baby back. I can't have that, so I will make sure that any pets I get in the future and the male Tabby I still have, will 'NEVER' eat any pet foods manufactured by MENU FOODS. I have bought my last product from them and I hope a lot of other pet owners feel the same way.

I have been trying to find out what we can do about the death of our beloved pets and no one will give me any answers. I don't want to sound bad but I want someone to pay for this. Happy was my life, I have 2 other cats that I keep worrying about now. Is their food gonna make them sick too? I wish they would come out with new news on this so we know what's going on.
