Roads were closed, Denver International Airport shut down, and millions of people had to dig out from a huge snow storm. Some were questioning the response to the blizzard, including problems at DIA. What are your thoughts about the storm?

I am extremely disappointed in Channel 7 for cancelling the morning program AGAIN to tell us about this little snow storm. It's not as if we don't have snow storms in COlorado and for goodness sakes you blow it up to be something it isn't. Just a cold, winter day and you take regular TV shows off the air. That I find to be ridiculous. I would appreciate it if 7 NEWS would stop sensationalizing things that are not newsworthy.

I agree with you Native. I have lived here for 40 years also and don't recall all the complaints until we got such an influx of people from CA and back east. Of course there were the mis-placed Texans but they eventually moved back to TX or adapted. I know TX closes roads at the first hint of snow. My ex was in Texarkana when his grandfather was not expected to live and got caught up in a "huge blizzard". It was all of 1 1/2" and the snow removal was a cowboy in the back of a truck shoveling sand and salt on the road. The city was shut down. We did finally get our neighborhood streets cleaned today, just in time for the next snow. We live in Aurora, in a forgotten area of middle class. The wealthy homes were cleaned first along with the, if Aurora has one, the inner city streets. Oh well, my husband had fun playing in the snow.

What's with all the bashing on the city, county and government. People were complaining that Denver intended to enforce the snow parking laws. How many of the people complaining about the possibility of being towed/ticketed are complaining about how the roads are being cleared. If you don't like the snow, leave, move away, that's more room for the rest of us. Less people interfering with the snow plows.

We rarely get snow like we did this year. I have been here 40+ years, when it snows people complain about the snow, when it rains people complain about the rain. When it's dry people want rain or snow. When it's hot they want it colder, when it's cold they want it hotter. Get real people. You can't have everything. As my mother always said, if you don't like the weather in Colorado, wait 5 min it will change. People laugh that I have coats, blankets, shovel, kitty litter etc in my vehicle all through the year. I have had to use such things at all times of the year, But I have them when needed and gladly let others use them.

My company has offices in other states, guess what, Some close the roads with only 2 inches of snow. Some states get snow and it goes away in the spring. the people just learn to deal with it.

Well, I have been in the Denver Area for about 14 yrs now and yes this is all new to me. INSTEAD of complaining, lend a helping hand! I live in a community with an abundance of elderly and go help shovel their paths as well as my own, and thats alot of work for a mother of four small childen. Understandable that there are people who are griping about plowing residentials but as stated before do you want to throw our tax dollars into a useless cause for this very rare event? PICK UP A SHOVEL AND GO TO TOWN! I myself have lived in multiple different states from Cali to Wisconsin. Colorado can handle a few blizzards now and again we are spoiled ya know. We have beautiful landscape, normally bearable weather and great people, so let's show everyone how great Colorado is, helping shows no bounds and is always appreciated. Besides, grab a cup of hot cocoa, get in your long underwear and while you out doing that work ENJOY! Have a snowball fight, build a snowman, with or without the kids!! Being that there is icy roads now grab a bag of kitty litter or when you get to the store (if they have any left!!) grab a couple things of salt, its not the madchloride but it still works well! Improvize! When does Colorado get to ENJOY this? Hardly ever, so in the terms of my late Grandfather, you get what you get and dont throw a fit. I apologize ahead of time if this offends anyone and this is strickly an opinion of a suburban mother dealing with this just like the rest of Colorado. :o) Happy New Year, we'll make 2006 hit the record books!!

I AM originally from Buffalo, New York and it is amazing how when Denver gets a storm that people expect immediate snowplowing etc. And as far as the comment on the news by one person interviewed about DIA being an ALL weather airport. There is no such airport in existence. People need to be alittle prepared for snow and to take some responsibility instead of getting mad rushes to get snow shovels, food and that sort of thing. Have a little common sense. PEOPLE KNEW THE STORM WAS COMING....and now we have another one. I THINK people did the best they could do in public works and that sort of thing.

Just drove up Hwy 285 from Denver to Highway 8, and roads were beautifully plowed. At the Fort restaurant, parking lot is plowed, and restaurant is open tonight at 5:30pm. Many are calling to see if we are open, and YES we are. Call 303-697-4771 for more information on road conditions in our area and reservations. Thank you, HA Kinney, owner

Hick finally got his act together. Better to manage the city snow removal than snow sleds during the last storm. What was he thinking? Didn't he learn from the McNichols debacle in the Christmas Blizzard of 1982? Those that fail to learn from history are condemned to repeat it.

I am going to go out on a limb and say that Friendship4 is not in or from Denver. He hasn't said anything to indicate he is in Denver. For us natives, we know how much snow v. sun we get every year. I am also very happy that he, for the most part is the only one bashing Hickenlooper. He is an AWESOME MAYOR. Only someone who does not live in this city would bash a mayor that has not had any controversy. His first act was to walk on City Hall's step to test them to make sure they worked! Guess what, they worked and he cancelled a very expensive project.

Friendship4 You said Third, inept Denver Mayor John Hickenpooper did an incredibly poor job of snow removal. Gosh, how right you are! Hickenlooper should drive those plows quicker! Hick does not make those policies. That is why there is CDOT and they are the ones that make those policies and routes. My question is, ?are you a resident of Denver?? I notice a lot of Hick bashers don?t live in our city limits. Generally, they live in the suburbs. This is a state issue; this is why they call it CDOT, as is Colorado Department of Transportation & not the DDOT. As for you other remark about putting snow blades on garbage trucks, that would require lots of $$$$, which require taxpayer approval and I doubt that taxpayers would approve dollars for something that doesn?t happen very often. As a resident that lives in the City and County of Denver, I could not justify spending thousands of dollars per blade in the anticipation of a blizzard that occurs??once every 4 years. That money could go to better public services in Denver such as repairing busted sprinklers systems that waste thousands of gallons per year. Anyway, thank you for listening. Let?s all go skiing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
