A male escort says that influential Rev. Ted Haggart has paying him for sexual trysts for the last three years.

Do you think the accusations are true?

Do you think the allegations' timing has anything to do with the upcoming elections?

Unfortunately I believe them to be true. It is so unfortunate that leaders like this give Christianity such a bad name, but YES I believe whole heartedly that they are TRUE.

Well, it's sad to hear and I hope it's not true, but it sure seems to be on par with limelight stricken religious icons. The larger then life they are, the harder they fall. I'm sure he's a nice guy, although it doesn't shine through all that well in Jesus Camp and his letter response to the movie. Only time will tell though. Speculation is just that; speculation.

Both parties are full of haters and idiots.

The left: 'We're the party of the people. We'll run everything by committee and involve the people making decisions that will fair to the people.'

Then they use these kind of last minute election tactics and by proxy ruin one man's family. True or not, you can't be both the party of the people and attack people.

The right: 'We're for family values. We believe in the sanctity of marriage, we believe in the one true G-d..., and we believe in a strong defense.'

Then they use tactics that smear their opponents, exxagerations, illegally accessing FBI files and outright lies and ruining their opponents families.

Family values? I think not.

You all do it for power. Keeping power, regaining power and you don't give a rat's @ about anybody else but yourselves, your agenda, your pitiful party and your power.

Which mob do you support? Can you spell none of the above?

You all make me sick.

Chiming in, I'm sure the timing has everything to do with the election (I.E. the accuser said it did already) and I agree with Talltrees. Both sides of our two party system are equally guilty of negative campaigning and being hypocritical... but, there are always going to be a couple bad apples in the bunch and there is no such thing as a utopian society. The members of said groups should be responsible and informed enough to weed out these bad seeds and not let them run the partys. Lately... that hasn't been happening. My opinion though.

Haggard obviously thinks the rest of us are as gullible as his congregation.

His self-serving semi-confession that he was only seeking a massage and bought some meth but through it away is a joke.

Read the transcripts of the voicemails he left on Jone's phone, which an anaylyst has determined IS Haggard.

Haggard obviously knew Jones well enough that he felt comfortable calling him, out of the blue, looking to buy meth, was speaking in "code" about what he wanted, and called him twice in the span of two hours while driving from Colorado Springs to Denver hoping to catch Jones at home. These are not the actions of a man who then just changed his mind and through it away. It angers me that so many people are so worried about the pastor's family and think we should be so concerned about them.

Where was/is your empathy for the gay couples and their families that this pastor, his family and his entire congregation have been maligning, villifying, excluding, banning, etc?

While I understand this his children are innocent in this whole matter and I do have empathy for them, it gauls me that people should think any of us should care about Haggard or his wife.

Haggard built a career and a fortune by preaching diviseness. I doubt that his wife ever protested any of the comforts his efforts to exclude others from equality afforded her.

People like Haggard and James Dobson are laying the groundwork for the next civil war in America. The war between people who believe America is for all of us and the zealots who believe that it's just for them.

How much did the Gay and Lesbian group pay Jones to come out with this just before the election???? It is a political ploy....

Talltrees, you can't be sure that the demo's had anything to do with this guy coming forward...yet. Who is to say what is really going on? One guy didn't pass the polly, the other confessed to some of the accusations. You are right though. They both have an agenda.

What hypocrites!! I just saw on the news, someone from Haggart's church stating "how we're all human and we all make mistakes" which is true, but they sure are quick to judge people outside of their church. Church leaders need to study Matthew 7 a little better.

Why shouldn't Jones come out with this information right before the election?

Are tactics like at for republicans only?

Jones may not be a saint but at least he's not pretending to be something he's not. At least he's able to own up to the things he's done.

Haggard has been a key player in the efforts to ban marital equality for gay americans.

Even if he didn't have gay sex, the fact that he's been leading this secret life of using crystal meth is very indicative of his character.

If he did have sex with Jones and other men, Jone's actions are just and right. For Haggard to be engaging in sex with gay men secretly while working to deny them equality makes him the lowest of pond scum.

Haggard didn't just lie to his wife, family and church. He lied to all everyone who has listened to him speak on any gay issue.

He also lied to Mike Jones. Granted, Haggard was just a customer but he was villifying people like Jones behind his back and then calling him, repeatedly, to engage in the same type of behavior that he was critizing.

Haggard brought this on himself. Don't shoot the messenger just because he's chosen a convenient time to talk about it.
