Myowneyes, do you believe it was Tombol Malik who attacked first? I believe this is what makes the most sense, however I was not there, and you were, do you agree?

Looks like the trial is set to begin in late February. Now we'll find out the details. Some of you who "took sides" will be surprised to learn what the truth looks like through unbiased eyes. Those of you who lashed out at others who were simply presenting facts might find the need to apologize. Learning things through word of mouth should not be confused with fact.

I guess we are learning more and more about what REALLY happend that early morning. Mark my words, I know what i saw. The truth is that Malik attacked first then Haffar. This is what will eventually be revealed in court. I believe in justice, Haffar needs to get back to the courts and face his charges. I gurantee that he will not be charged with 1st degree murder. Just wait and see......

Ey - I totally agree with your last post, which is not something I can say for some of the others. Reread it and you will notice, not once did you mention Mantas Matulis. Interesting. Yes, he is responsible at some level, but he in no way should be charged with first degree murder...it just does not fit the ACTUAL facts of the case. It is sad he is being used as a scapegoat by the prosecution because Haffar fled.

The only facts that need to be force-fed to all those who peruse this site are that Tombol Malik is dead - murderd at the hands of Muaz Haffar with a bike lock and that Haffar is now a fugitive who was freed on bond. It doesn't matter what little facts 'represent' has or does not have. Whatever he saw doesn't change the fact that Muaz Haffar beat Tombol Malik to death in the face - that he did not stop when Tombol was unconcious - that he did not stop when Tombol's face became disfigured - that he di dnot stop until he heard the sound of police sirens. So take your 'represent'ations and do with them what you will. The facts are the facts and for all those who want to defend these two know this fact: Muaz Haffar WILL be caught and proven guilty; and that day will be a grimly happy day for all of us who know that Tombol deserved a fate other than this.

Mr Bizness stated: "He most likely walked SEVERAL PACES to get it before walking back to destroy Malik's face. Finally, Represent forgot to mention that Matulis prevented Popelka from aiding his friend and then soccer kicked Malik in the head twice while taunting his helpless friend.... Bottom line: Represent tells a nice little story that collapses under the weight of the evidence already available. Nice try!" There is definately something wrong with you Mr. bizness and i bet you are either really good friends with malik or related to him. First off you weren't there so by saying "he most likely walked several paces to get it" (the bike lock) you are speculating. I was there, he did not walk at all, he picked up the lock from maliks hand. Second, he can say that matulis prevented anthony from aiding his friend but anthony was fighting back with matulis, so thats his own decision to fight back and not help his friend. Also, from the looks of it, i highly doubt that anthony would have been able to do anything for malik, it happend so fast and i think if popelka intervened he would have been hurt severly. It is sad that some of you malik supporters are starting to get me on the suspects side instead of the victims. I did not choose this but it seems as if though all of you will not accept the facts and it is extremely frustrating to know what the truth is and then being told you are wrong by people who have no clue as to what the truth is. Mr bizness this isn't "a nice little story" it is actually a very sad story. And its even more sad that you think you know something when you no absolutely nothing.....so nice try Mr. bizness! Next time mind your own business

After reviewing the messages posted on this site i find it almost meaningless to post. I was a witness that morning so it does not matter what anyone else says in this discussion. I also do not care what the other "12 witnesses" saw because i saw what happened with my own eyes. Speaking of which, myowneyes is the only one who seems to relate his version with mine and i believe we are the only ones in this discussion who actually witnessed what had happenend. Maybe i have not posted on this site because i have better things to do than show my emotions and rage on this discussion. Maybe i fill my time with my full-time job, my kids, and my wife. Mr Bizness, EY, Gillies and all the rest i forgot to mention, you are the ones who should get your facts straight. I am already sick of the blame game. "why didn't represent post sooner, why didn't represent tell the police". What makes you so sure i haven't notified the police. Why are you telling me what i know and what i should do or should have done. Everyone seems to be controlled by emotions and is in denial. I don't know where or how you talked to these so called witnesses because the information you have recieved is simply false. Go ahead and refute my position but it does not matter. I do not favor either side which makes me unbiased and better at judgement than both malik or matulis/haffer supporters. Simply stated, I was there you were not. You can use all the fancy vocabulary you want or try to present false facts to persuade the others that i am wrong. I have one question for those arguing their side, were you there? If not then i suggest you keep quiet because you will be silenced once the truth comes out.

myowneyes..... I won't say how I know my information, but I can tell you, and everybody that reads this, that I have talked to people directly involved in the case, seen the police report, and it CLEARLY states that Mantes Matulis did NOT kick, or touch Malik Tombol. In addition, there are several witnesses that will state the same thing, that Matulis never touched Malik. Again, this will become clear on September 28, and it is obviously a waste of time reading or responding to "myowneyes" as this person is biased. Come September 28, everyone will know that I am not hear to "spin" the story one way or another.
freedom30 - not sure exactly where you get your information from, but it isn't factual. First, Matulis did NOT have a chance to change clothes, and there was no blood on his shoes. That has already been established (although that fact alone actually doesn't clear him). Second, not sure why you don't think Matulis is not cooperating?? In fact, Matulis gave his statement willingly. In addition, Matulis has an attorney, however there has been little dialogue between the state and the attorney. In addition, the state had evidence that it didn't openly share, so I would actually say that the state hasn't been cooperative. Finally, the state actually exagerated in the bond revokation hearing, which was a total joke in itself. Let's face it, Haffer fled, so they punish Matulis. Second, within a week, a drunk driver slammed into a family from Indiana by O'hare airport, killing two innocent kids, and he had bond set at $1 million. Oh, this person was drunk, and had multiple convictions for DWI. Yet Matulis, with NO prior criminal record, who had a huge gash in his head from either Popelka or Malik, who didn't touch the deceased, has no bond? Funny how the scales of justice don't balance at times.

I know I said I wasn't going to bother with this anymore, but I'm sick of the misinformation. Everyone on this discussion board tends to ignore all rational thought and only responds with emotionally charged posts to emotionally charged statements.
Gillies, Get your own facts straight. Obviously, YOU have not read the police report, or maybe you only read the parts that you want to believe. (That seems to be everyone's M.O in here.) Matulis kicked him at least twice. That is a rational statement of fact from an impartial party.
OK, now go ahead and ignore it.

Whether or not Matulis kicked Tombol will be shown in court, as both defendants were arrested before they had a chance to change their clothes, and there will be blood on the shoe of Mantas if he did indeed perpetrate the act and if he did not the lack of blood on his shoe will also reveal that.
It seems that Muaz leaving his friend "in the lurch" by abandoning him will bode ill for Matulis if he decides to continue to be uncooperative with the authorities. He could very well be hung out to dry, so to speak.
It may be a plea bargain is his only way out of this nightmare to sustain some semblance of a future for him. I may be wrong, time will tell.
This unfortunate chain of events is indeed one where all sides have lost and lives will never be the same. I am sad for Tombol Malik and his family and the ones responsible for his death and their families. Nothing but a waste all the way around.
Someone posted that the action was that of a cold-blooded killer(s). Actually, the killing was very hot and passionate(in a rage sense), as a cold-blooded killer would not have struck so very many times over and over and over. If nothing else, rage ruled that evening, and the consequences are now being played out. What happened to bring that rage to the surface is what will be presented in court.
