I completely agree with the sentence handed down from the court for this case. I know it was the harshest punishment allowed by the courts. Guillen-Martinez is a worthless man that doesn't deserve to EVER get out of prison, however, I know that it will be my tax money that is used to keep him alive in my country! There needs to be some sort of punishment system developed for illegals who decide they want to reck our country! We need to make it so hard on these people that they will never want to come back into our country! Illegals like Guillen-Martinez aren't able to enlist in our military, nor are they allowed to vote.... so in return our fellow Americans are at war fighting to keep illegals free and our government is allowing this! Does anyone else see a problem here? Also, why was he driving, who sold him a car? There should be rules to driving in America....like..... you need to be a US CITIZEN. Illegals shouldn't be able to buy vehicles or get a driver's license. There needs to be a country wide standard that is followed. Proof of citizenship! Guillen Martinez should have never had the chance to come back into our country, drink alcohol, drive a vehicle, and kill a fellow American and her unborn child...oh yeah, and show no remorse for his acitons. He deserved life in prison but I guess 25-30 years will just have to do!

Maybe in life we all make mistakes but for alot of us we do not make rash judgments to kill someone. To me that is not a mistake. In Febrary 2007 my husband, pregnant sister in law and myself was coming back from Statesville that night. A driver that was DUI hit us. sending our car end over end twice our car balancing itself somehow upside down on a steep embankment. My husband had internal bleeding and a fractured hip, I waled away with bruises and my sister in law who was six months pregnant lost the baby and almost losing one of her legs and almost her life as well. To me as well of our family the unborn child which was a son, godchild, grandchild, nephew, a loved individual, part of the family. I sympathize with the family and am happy that they feel justice had prevailed my prayers continue to go out to you and hope all of you can begin to put your lives back together one day at a time. However, I feel he should be charged with death or life he killed 2 lives that day in Landis. It is so crazy that the law works in the favor of irresponsible people. The drunk driving laws need to be toughened to where there is more justice. To me drunk driving is just as equal to attempted murder. That car is a weapon that people choose to get into under the influence, yet what gets me is how remorseful some of these people are to the damages that were consequences of their actions. My sister in law every morning when she wakes up has to face that her child is not here. This event would not have happened Shawn would be here today if it were not for DUI driver. We want to empower change; after my sister in law has yet another surgery on her leg we are hoping to start up a movement to change the law as reflecting to unborn children and drunk driving laws. Unborn children are Human beings and I know there are people who are willing to argue that fact but what I feel in my heart is what I feel as to what anyone else is entitled to believe. Justice must prevail for the ones unheard! For those who would like to support or give feedback or tips on how to get started in this movement for change please email your opinions, facts,or if you want to share you story ,please do so email: justice4shawn2007@yahoo.com

I think that a prison sentence in our country may be easier on him than day to day life in his own. It seems like he ended up getting a pretty good deal. The US should work out a plan in which we would not just deport the criminals, but offer justifiable monetary compensation to the home country if they agree to keep the criminal in their prisons for the duration.
