For anyone who lives or works around Boston, it's a given that we have some of the rudest drivers around, the question is why?
What are your thoughts on why Hub drivers are so rude?

Boston drivers may be so rude because the roads are in bad shape, the tolls are expensive, and the road planning is just insane.

I agree with Mad Mum. In England, I was crossing a street on the crosswalk and the light changed while I was in the middle of the street. I had to run for it so I wouldn't get hit. Then I was yelled for walking slow. I have found the English to be very polite until they are in a car, then watch out. Yikes.

So the writer said:
"I'm amazed at the difference between MA and NH drivers. NH drives have much less anxiety and are a lot less miserable"
Sure they are cause they come down and mooch and get drunk in MA raising our insurance rates and then going back into hiding in the bush in NH.

As rude as Massachusetts drivers can be, they pale in comparison to New Jersey drivers where if you're driving on the Garden State Pkwy, you take the chance of your lifetime. I damned near freaked out when a car in front of me whacked a driver pulled over in the breakdown lane who exited his car on the driver's side (always foolish). He was instantly killed where his body flew into a regular lane. People enroute on the parkway for the most part did their best to stay clear and go on their way. However, there were a couple of cars that stopped and yelled obscenities - one example of one of the most terrible things I've ever heard where he yelled out the window, "Get that f***ing stiff off the road." Some fine example of driver courtesy!

Lichtbroed - I totally disagree with you. As a foreign visitor to Boston several times I have found the folk helpful, kind and courteous and that's just out in the streets. True you Yanks "Live for Work and work to live" to extremes and so drive way too fast to match, but in Europe the highways are 120kph and that's 'slow' so it's the same everywhere, with speed comes impatience. We drive on the opposite side to you so when I drive over there, with caution (but not slow) I have generally found folk accommodating. Mind you I have had to learn the left lane is not the slow one, but Bostonians beat other cities hand down for being helpful, unrude citizen. Try European drivers, especial in Paris.

Depends on the weather perhaps ? Get real there are rude drivers all over the world, you should try Sydney and NSW in Oz. At least you stop for pedestrians in case of law suits, such things rarely exist over here, they just keep going or use rude sign language, tailgate and semis are the worst at that.

Because they don't get much and they can be!!! Its cold, the weather is often nasty, there are to many cars, and people are in a hurry, and people and stuff keep them from getting down the road. Even with all the stuff to keep you not board and distracted people still want to get where they are going so they can get their business done and move on to the next place.

Well Kelly17 from your comments I think we can all guess why your insurance doubled and it has nothing to do with the rates in Arizona.

Road rage goes beyond the road. Yesterday i witnessed something at the grocery store. An uppity yuppie preppy suburban housewife was throwing a temper tantrum & nearly blowing a gasket because she was stuck behind 2 little old ladies while exiting the store & going to their senior citizen bus. She then climbed into her Cadillac Escalade, got the cellphone to her ear and then burned rubber pulling out of her space. She had the audacity to lean on the horn and curse the family that was already in the process of crossing the lane to the store. Let's hope this princess is the exception to rudeness & does not become the norm!
