Gov. Bob Ehrlich has lifted the moratorium on the death penalty and an inmate is scheduled to die. Is it time to resume the death penalty or should the report on the death penalty be studied? What is your opinion?

I worked doing psychological intake in a federal prison when pursuing a degree in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. During that 3 month period I don't think I met anyone who admitted guilt for a crime. That is part of the nature of the beast. Many individuals who get in trouble with the law are sociopathic. I don't really trust that people from the field of academic are unbiased enough to conduct such a study. I think a limited study should be conducted but allow the system to function as it stands until findings are issued. I would hope that the study would realign punishments. Much higher penalties should be rendered against individuals found guilty of crimes against the people such as public officials who use their positions for personal benefit or for the benefit of special interests. The people need to take back the government. I moved to Maryland one year ago and was surprised that the State Comptroller doesn't feel the need to respond to questions about taxes.

This is just one more stupid thing Glendening did for special interest groups. He may have thought it would help Townsend win the election thank god he was wrong. Now we will have the NAACP calling Ehrlich a racist when he reinstates the law. We may now need to wait for a black governor to be elected before executions look politically correct.

It is so sad to hear that parris is avoiding this issue. If the death penalty was more inforced here we wouldn't have people in white trucks going around shoooting people randomly....hint hint. These people know where to commit these crimes. I tell you what in wouldn't of happened in texas. Maybe we should adopt some of there standards for living. When that lady was carjacked robed and killed i'm sure they did sit and debate about "well if we kill her will this be racial profiling " no they just killed her life she was nothing why should some one even think once about there life. I just feel for the parents of all these repeated offenders murders, and rapist how do they feel knowing that the seed that they carried is no better than a dead pig. SHERELL MCNEAL

Hurrah for 11Newsgal! The sad fact is that black criminals prey predominantly on other blacks, just as white criminals prey predominantly on other whites. What King Parris is really saying is that he refuses to protect black men, women and children from predators. And this is simply WRONG! People don't deserve to live in fear. They deserve to have the people who victimize them pay for their crimes.

I THINK K. KENNEDY IS ENDORSING THE MORATORIUM TO WIN THE BLACK VOTES. aNYONE WITH SENSE KNOWS MARYLAND DOES NOT EXECUTE ACCORDING TO RACE. SEE WHO IS COMMITING THE MOST CAPITAL CRIMES

i say lets lift the stay and fire up old sparky. its not the race of the person that does the crime but it's what the PERSON did that makes what he/she did to get them in where there at. IT IS NOT based on race. people. what if that person came in to YOUR house one night and raped then killed your mother or grandmother for NO REASON what so ever what would YOU want done to them huh? race has nothing to do with who is on death row daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa joker

Our system is based on a jury of our peers deciding whether or not there is enough evidence to convict a person of commiting a crime. If we are going to allow lawyers to select the jury and then decide that we are not happy when things don't go our way, we should change the Constitution. I am not saying that an innocent person has never been wrongly convicted but we do need to have some faith in the system.

Moratorium??? Do you know the meaning of Crematorium? I am a black female pharmacist and colleague of the late Yvette Adrien Beaks a pharmacist who died last August 2001 as a result of being carjacked, robbed and shot by 4 black boys ."we need a woman in a nice car to rob" so that they could pay a debt they said and cruised 695 to follow her 18 miles home. Why did they have to kill my colleague? When 11 news Lisa Robinson called to interview me the night they found her body, yeah some of you called me because of how pathethically sad and drenched I looked on TV. Well, guess what, the shooter faces a federal death penalty. You gonna tell me because he's black they need more studies that blacks are not commiting more crimes especially in the face of other blacks? C'mon Parris!!! What if it was your pregnant wife in that car? In case you saw the memorial service on TV,there was no casket because Yvette was cremated after her decomposed body was found 4 days later

Use more DNA testing to cut down on people locked up although they are innocent. The guilty ones need to deal with the consequences of their actions.

If the governments are going to decide sentencing why do we bother with juries and judges. All guilty verdicts will be forwarded to the governor, mayor or whoever and they can hand down the sentencing. Also, I think all the goodie two shoe pacifists who disagree with the death sentence should pick up the tab for supporting these upstanding citizens for the rest of their life in prison. Why should hard working tax dollars be used.
