Kern County supervisors have already wasted more than a quarter-million dollars trying to prove a point. The county sued former Sheriff Carl Sparks trying to get back $39,000 in pay he wasn't supposed to hand out to his commanders.
Just so we're all clear on this, the people we elected to run Kern County have already spent more than $250,000 trying to collect $39,000. That works out to wasting nearly $7 for every buck they tried to get back. And the only reason they didn't spend more is because a judge threw out the case against our former sheriff.
This is like the movie Dumb and Dumber, only it's not funny! Because now supervisors are actually considering an appeal, which will cost taxpayers even more.
23ABC says enough of this lunacy. County supervisors, you lost. Get over it. Let Carl Sparks alone. And don't you dare waste another dime of taxpayer money on an appeal.
