A lot of things in the news this week have left us shaking our head.

At the St. Jude Dream Home, someone stole wood from the house which was being built to raise money for kids with cancer.

A Bakersfield minister was in handcuffs after police charged him with stealing from his church.

Scores of people witnessed a mother of three murdered at a park -- yet not one person came forward.

Ironically, these things happened as 23News Anchor Jackie Parks reported on what she calls a "crisis of conscience."

Her reporting and the events of this week underscored what appears to be a decline in ethics, morals and values. Some would say it's only natural for a society's values to change over time.

Channel 23 says the only thing that's changed is our response to people who step over the line between right and wrong.

And it's time for us to stop that and start standing up for what's right. Every day.

First aired 2/17/05
