When Don and Linda Adams of Bakersfield learned their teenage daughter got a speeding ticket doing nearly 90 mph, they did something remarkable.

First, they all wrote a letter to the office who pulled her over and thanked him. Then, they made their daughter, Katie, perform community service. Finally, her parents took her on a tour of the morgue where they do autopsies on accident victims.

Don and Linda Adams -- Channel 23 says, "You rock!"

In fact, we're so impressed with what you did, we think the CHP, local police and the sheriff should develop an official program for young speeders modeled after what you did, complete with community service and tours of the morgue.

We think plenty of parents would make their kids take part.

In fact, KERO thinks it's such a good idea, that if cops come up with it, Channel 23 will promote it with free TV commercials. Don & Linda Adams have shown us the way. All we have to do is follow.

Thank you for recognizing the actions taken by Mr. and Mrs. Adams. I am thrilled to know that there are such responsible adults teaching discipline to their children. I would like to point out that Mr. and Mrs. Adams took the time to instruct their child own their own. 23 should NOT encourage the local police, sheriff and CHP offices to offer the same program. This is not the responsibility of the government. We, the government, did our job, issued a ticket. Parents, like Katie?s, need to be the parents. You rock 23 for spotlighting them. Please don?t inspire more government programs.
