As New Mexico approaches its annual fire season, use this forum to report any fire or smoke conditions, sightings, health effects, etc in your area. Fire activity changes rapidly, so sharing your experiences will be valuable and timely information.

I wish the government would do public ads on throwing out your cigarette bud while driving, the way they address DWI people need to be reminded daily not to throw out their buds, I see many drivers daily just launch them with no regard to where that bud is going..Hello PEOPLE WAKE UP. If you don't want to use your ashtray don't use the street and weeds as one .This is just as important as DWI.DONT BE stuBUD!!!

Thank You, Claudia

I cannot BELIEVE fireworks haven't been banned in this tinder dry summer.

I am so disgusted with this state government.

Get ready, we'll be smelling more than people burning trash as we approach the 4th and leave it behind. What a perfect scenario for arsonists and firebugs.

Over the next week, the CERT teams in Albuquerque are looking for current volunteers to assist AFD with patrols of the Bosque, with special look-out for people who use the area for camp-fires, which have been reported by the open Area police.

Last night (Fri 27 July) there was a VERY powerful burning smell in our neighborhood (just NE of UNM), almost like a "dump fire" smell.

Did anyone else smell it or does anyone know what caused it?
