A family in Pagosa Springs, Colo., has been told by the homeowners assocation to remove a Christmas wreath shaped as a peace sign. What are you thoughts about the request and the couple's refusal to remove it?

Wait a minute. Am I still in America? Geeze! Isn't it our right to hold our own beliefs? My goodness, it's our constitutional right to express our views, ideas or thoughts through our freedom of living in our country. If its your land, do what you want with it and on it if its not illegal and if it offends myself or any other person, so be it! We need to exercise our own rights instead of tip-toeing around and trying not to offend the immigrants that come here legally and illegally! If they want to have 40 Christmas Wreath's in the form of a piece sign then let them! I say stand your ground! If it offends anyone else, dont look at it, go near it and/or think about it.

I don't think President Bush supports an all Catholic community where everyone supports Catholism and is monitered 24/7. The issue here is the wreath. HOA's are not correct as whoever is the leader can order what ever they want. They have a Hitler mentality, who by the way was a liberal, and can do what they want. I have no issue with the peace symbol or what ever you want to display, I do have issues with the liberals who are so curled up in their fuzzy little world of big bucks who want to sit back and wait for another 9-11 to happen and demand that we should have done something. We are and it is on their turf.

Conservatives always want their cake and eat it, too. Do as we say, not as we do.
Here we have a situation where conservatives in this community used, ironically enough, a very liberal interpretation of the HOA by-law, to censure a neighbor's holiday display. They determined that a peace wreath was either a political message or a satanic symbol and was, therefore, offensive to the sensibilities of others in the community.
Domino's founder, Tom Monaghan, a staunch and religious conservative plans to build a veritable catholic town where every aspect of citizens lives will be censured by town by-laws of his own design. Pharmacies will not be allowed to carry contraceptives. Stores will not sell magazines or newspapers that present viewpoints that do not embody Monaghan's conservative values.
Monaghan's conservative Catholic "Utopia" is an insult to the principles of freedom and democracy that millions of Americans have fought and died for over our 236 year history.
Conservatives, like President Bush, are trying to sell this idealism of freedom and democracy to the Muslim world while trying to create a fundamentalist regime similar to what they have right here in the United States.
Is the irony and hypocrisy lost on everyone?

Couple of thoughts -
1. the peace symbol is anti-Christ? Really?! I was always taught that Christ was all about Peace. Hmmm. Guess I'll have to re-think all my Sunday School education.
2. Didn't realize that HOAs could control the religion of homeowners. I can just see the regulation now----- Section 5: Restrictions: 5.1 No fences less than 6 feet high 5.2 No RV's visible. Ever. 5.3 Lawns must be green, even in severe drought 5.4 No non-Christian residents
3. Did they fine the neighbors with the menorah in the window, too?
4. Mr. Kearns' statements offend me. Can I fine him $25/day?

I am surprised that anyone in CA has a water shortage as they drain us in CO for all they can get and what that has to do with the Christmas wreath I don't know. Hoa's need to go. They should only be there to make sure that there are not junk cars and trash around a place, not what is political, the color of garbage bags, number of lawn chairs.

Holy smokes! Thank goodness! For a minute there, I thought I had awakened to find myself living in some third-world Caribbean voodoo nation littered with chicken bones, feathers and little tiny dark bottles of potions and salves -- only to find out now, it was only a bunch of harmless Colorado Christian spooks lurking around down in Pagosa Springs! Whew!

Liberals were the cause of Viet Nam. I have no issue with the peace symbol. Unlike the war in Viet Nam, which Kennedy went to the president about, this is about our security.

The Moral of this story is, if you agree to live where there is a HOA Obey the rules or don't live there and cause problems later, and when it concerns liberals & Left Wingers the "Truth is mightier than Sword" or an M-16.
Here Endeth The Lesson
